  • Patent number: 9377114
Abstract: A pressure control valve for reactive adhesives includes a valve housing with a liquid recirculation passage communicating with a conduit leading to a dispensing apparatus and an adhesive pump, a valve element mounted within the valve housing, and a biasing member for biasing the valve element towards a valve seat in the liquid passage. The pressure control valve also includes a flexible seal with a first end fixedly coupled to the valve element and a second end fixedly coupled to the valve housing. The flexible seal also includes an intermediate portion that flexes or deforms as the first end of the flexible seal follows movements of the valve element, thereby preventing liquid adhesive in the liquid recirculation passage from contacting the biasing member. The flexible seal may include an arch-shaped compression seal or a thin flexible annular membrane.

  • Patent number: 5927555
Abstract: An apparatus for melting and dispensing thermoplastic materials such as thermoplastic adhesives referred to as "hot melt" adhesives. More specifically the apparatus includes a pump support which extends downwardly into a melter tank and which supports a rotary vertical pump shaft driving a pump located near the bottom of the melter tank. The pump support is configured to mount the pump shaft journal in a recess above the top of the melter tank and the rotation of the drive shaft adjacent to vertical columns of the pump support stirs the melted material in the melt tank.

  • Patent number: 5540801
Abstract: An apparatus (12) for use in forming core layers for plywood from a plurality of veneer sections includes a manifold (48) which extends transversely to a work flow path and across which the veneer sections are sequentially moved. An adhesive passage (46) in the manifold (48) is connected in fluid communication with a plurality of modular dispenser guns (44). Each of the modular dispenser guns (44) is connected in fluid communication with either an adhesive dispenser head or a string dispenser head (34). At the adhesive dispenser heads (32), adhesive is engaged by the leading end portion of a veneer section and pressed against the trailing end portion of a next preceding veneer section. At the string dispenser heads (34), string (42) coated with adhesive is applied to downwardly facing major side surfaces of the veneer sections.

  • Patent number: 5507534
Abstract: A fitting (10) for dispensing fluids, such as hot melt adhesives, includes a swivel member (12) and a housing (14). The swivel member (12) has a ball (16) at one end which is received within a socket (22) of the housing (14). The swivel member (12) has a first bore (24) which intersects and cooperates with at least one secondary bore (28). The secondary bore (28) is generally perpendicular to the first bore (24) and to a conduit (54) in the housing (14). Fluid enters the first bore (24), passes into the secondary bore (28), passes into a reservoir (40) and then finally into the conduit (54) and out of the housing (14). The reservoir and the orientation of secondary bores 28 reduces or eliminates axial loading on swivel member (12) due to the internal fluid pressure.

  • Patent number: 4745901
Abstract: An engine control normally effective for regulating the fuel and spark timing to provide substantially optimum engine performance. Periods of heavy operator loading are identified and integrated over time to define engine operating conditions for which engine protection concerns predominate. At such time, the normal controls are overriden to operate the engine at a reduced performance level, thereby to protect the engine from preignition damage.
