  • Publication number: 20010048797
Abstract: The present invention relates to a radiation-curable composition comprising, in the uncured state, at least one monomer or oligomer having a radiation-curable functional group which can form free radicals in the presence of actinic radiation, a photoinitiator for said monomer or oligomer present in an amount sufficient to effect radiation cure of said monomer or oligomers and a contrasting agent which causes an observable change in the cured composition upon exposure to energy from a high energy tunable light source.

  • Patent number: 5346767
Abstract: A method of coating is disclosed which is based on applying a composition which is based on colloidal silica dispersed in a silanol or methacrylic derived polymer system or an aminoplast resin to an article of a polybutylene terepthalate or polyethylene terephthalate, or blends of polybutylene terephthalate and polyethylene terephthalate, which optionally include a polycarbonate, or optionally include a polyether ester or polyetherimide ester and a heavy inorganic filler.

    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Mark G. Tilley, Robert R. Gallucci
  • Patent number: 5227240
Abstract: Organophosphorus compounds capable of being activated with light at from 360 nm to about 410 nm, such as, an acylphosphine oxide, have been found useful as photoinitiators for effecting the cure of various UV curable coating compositions, such as a UV curable organic material in the presence of up to 20% by weight of a UV absorber. UV stabilized thermoplastic composites of films, sheets, or laminates having thickness of up to an inch or more with improved optical clarity also are provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 22, 1992
Date of Patent: July 13, 1993
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Mark G. Tilley, Peter M. Miranda
