  • Patent number: 7152712
Abstract: A lubrication medium supply system and method for delivering lubricant to, for example, the spin bearings of a control moment gyro (CMG), includes a reservoir, a motor, and a valve. A lubrication medium is placed within the reservoir, and the motor, which is coupled to the reservoir, compresses, and thereby pressurizes, the lubrication medium. The valve opens in response to the pressurization of the lubrication medium, to thereby dispense a predetermined amount of lubrication medium from the reservoir, while simultaneously depressurizing the lubrication medium in the reservoir.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 26, 2006
    Assignee: Honeywell International, Inc.
Inventors: Gary L. Gisler, Mark A. Heller
  • Publication number: 20060273277
Abstract: The seal assemblies of this invention comprise a closure assembly having first and second grooves, with a rubber seal mounted in said first groove and a removably mounted, replaceable barrier strand in said second groove, said barrier located between the rubber seal and a plasma source, whereby said barrier shields the rubber seal from erosive effects of the plasma.
