  • Patent number: 7235187
Abstract: Reaction mixtures that include exothermic generating particles having a water soluble coating encasing a portion of the particles, a volatile component and, optionally an aqueous solution, and a buffer. The reaction mixtures are especially suited to generate heat in a controllable manner. In one such controlled reaction, the reaction components are mixed together and the mixture increases in temperature to a Set Temperature within a predetermined time, and the mixture remains at the Set Temperature for a longer period of time. In this manner, volatile components can be controllably released to the surrounding environment. The volatile components can be, for example, a perfume, a fragrance, an insect repellent, a fumigant, a disinfectant, a bactericide, an insecticide, a pesticide, a germicide, an acaricide, a sterilizer, a deodorizer, a fogging agent and mixtures of these. Apparatuses and methods that use these reaction mixtures are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7081211
Abstract: Multi-layer reaction mixtures that includes exothermic generating particles having a water soluble coating encasing a portion of the particles, a volatile component and, optionally, a buffer, an aqueous solution or both. At least two layers of the reaction mixture contain exothermic generating particles and at least one layer of the reaction mixture contains a portion of the exothermic generating particles suspended in a gel that includes the water soluble coating. These multi-layer reaction mixtures are especially suited to generate heat in a controllable manner. In one such controlled reaction, the reaction components are mixed together and the reaction mixture increases in temperature to a Set Temperature within a predetermined time, and the mixture remains at the Set Temperature for a longer period of time. In this manner, volatile components can be controllably released to the surrounding environment.

  • Publication number: 20030206965
Abstract: Allergen neutralization compositions for use on inanimate objects having an effective amount of an allergy neutralizing metal ion, and a solvent. The allergen neutralization compositions are sprayable, and preferably contain allergen denaturing compounds such as polyphenol compounds, hydrogen peroxide, salicylic acid, citric acid, lactic acid, glycolic acid, and mixtures of these. The metal ion is selected from ions of zinc, stannous, stannic, magnesium, calcium, manganese, titanium, iron, copper, nickel, and mixtures of these. These allergen neutralization compositions provide excellent efficacy against various allergens, and specifically, the allergens associated with house dust mites and other common allergens such as cat dander, pollen and the like. Moreover, these compositions do not stain common household surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20030203035
Abstract: Allergen neutralization compositions that retain at least about 30% of dust particles as measured by the Dust Control Test, and the compositions have an average MIU value of less than 3.4 as measured by the Friction Coefficient Analysis method. The compositions preferably contain a film forming polymer to control dust while maintaining a smooth feeling on the surface being treated. These allergen neutralization compositions are for use on inanimate objects, and are sprayable. Preferably these allergen neutralization compositions contain allergen denaturing compounds such as an effective amount of an allergy neutralizing metal ion, polyphenol compounds, hydrogen peroxide, salicylic acid, citric acid, lactic acid, glycolic acid, and mixtures of these.

  • Patent number: 5298636
Abstract: Polyhydroxy amines reacted with fatty acid esters yield polyhydroxy fatty acid amide surfactants, such as the C.sub.11 -C.sub.17 fatty N-methyl glucamides, which may be contaminated with secondary amines. Such amines are acylated by a reaction with acetic anhydride. The resulting "clean" polyhydroxy fatty acid amide surfactants are preferred for use in the presence of oxidants, especially in the formulation of modern, colorless liquid detergents.
