  • Patent number: 5149181
Abstract: Lens wafers which are bonded together with adhesive to form a laminate lens for use in eyeglasses or for other purposes enables immediate visual detection of the installation of an unlaminated lens wafer in the eyeglasses or the like. At least a portion of the safeguarded wafer has a visually observable region which impairs use of the wafer in the absence of the adhesive and another wafer. The impairment becomes invisible during the process of bonding the wafer to another wafer. The visually observable impairment may have an outline which conveys information such as optical parameters of the wafer or the angular position of the wafer relative to the other wafer at the start of the bonding process.
