  • Patent number: 11970270
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a chaff dispensing system that is provided on an aircraft. The chaff dispensing system includes a container, a dispensing assembly, a controller, and a volume of chaff material. The container has a first end, a second end, and a chamber that extends between the first and second ends, and the second end defines an ejection port. The dispensing assembly is provided on the aircraft, and the dispensing assembly is operably engaged to the container. The controller is electrically connected to the dispensing assembly. The volume of chaff material is disposed inside the chamber of the container. The volume of chaff material is dispensed by the dispensing assembly operably through the controller in metered volumes of chaff material. In addition, a first volume of chaff material may be metered at a first time and a second volume chaff material may be metered at a second time in which the second volume of chaff material is different than the first volume of chaff material.

  • Patent number: 11927212
Abstract: A thin film-retaining washer with custom geometry that may further provide for a simple press-on installation while maintaining retention of fasteners during assembly, shipping, handling, and/or use of associated systems. The present retaining hardware is easily manufactured from sheet or film materials with minimal post-processing and may be scaled and optimized for use with multiple size and style of fasteners. Further, the thickness profile of the thin film retaining hardware facilitates lobe spring deflection to further provide secure retention of the associated fasteners.

  • Publication number: 20230031637
Abstract: Various countermeasure expendables and methods of using said countermeasure expendables are provided herein. The countermeasure expendable includes a container. The countermeasure expendable also includes a plurality of countermeasure payloads operably engaged inside the container, wherein one countermeasure payload of the plurality of countermeasure payloads is operably connected to a first Zener diode, and wherein another countermeasure packet of the plurality of countermeasure packets is operably connected to a second Zener diode. In addition, the first Zener diode has a first Zener voltage threshold and the second Zener diode has a second Zener voltage threshold greater than the first Zener voltage threshold.

  • Publication number: 20220397360
Abstract: Various systems and methods for leveraging legacy countermeasure dispensing systems (CMDSs). The legacy CMDSs are leveraged through the expansion of breechplates and magazines in a CMDS by expanding the amount of expendables carried by a CMDS while still maintaining the legacy sequencer and dispenser in a legacy military platform, such as an aircraft. In addition, various circuitry systems are included in a circuit card of the breechplate for duplicating and/or expanding the firing lines provided in a legacy CMDS.

  • Publication number: 20210404783
Abstract: A countermeasure dispenser system has a dispenser with a fire pin and a smart expendable housed in the dispenser awaiting to be fired upon a fire command. The smart expendable has features that need power and communication signals from the dispenser. The communication signals and power sent from the dispenser to the smart expendable are sent through an interface that is different than the fire pin in the dispenser. The interface may be a dedicated wired interface or the interface may be a wireless interface. If wireless, the wireless interface may use near field communications, RF signaling, or near field magnetic induction.

  • Publication number: 20180279937
Abstract: The system and method of size independent pupillometry used for assessing critical diagnostic characteristics relating to traumatic brain injury (TBI). The system and method utilizes the timing of a response to a stimuli for one or more pupils of an individual, characterizes the one or more timed responses, determines the latency of the one or more timed responses, measures the minimum constriction value for the one or more timed responses; and assesses the one or more timed responses collected to detect changes in neurotransmission and neuroactivity of an individual to assess the presence of a traumatic brain injury.

  • Publication number: 20180279948
Abstract: The system and method of pupil size independent pupillometry used for assessing critical diagnostic characteristics relating to neurotransmission and neuroactivity as applied to toxin exposure. The system and method utilizes the timing of a response to stimuli for a pupil of an individual, characterizes the timed responses, determines the latency of the timed responses, measures the minimum constriction value for the timed responses; and assesses the timed responses collected to diagnose changes in neurotransmission and neuroactivity for an individual exposed to organophosphate (OP) nerve agents or botulinum toxin (BTX).
