  • Publication number: 20070017139
Abstract: A hand-guard and barrel nut clamping assembly for tactical firearms and other mechanical equipment that is subject to frequent or sustained vibration or shock, such as when a firearm is subjected to sustained rapid fire and/or the firearm is handled roughly. A small generally half-moon shaped anti-rotation clamping member is secured to a hand-guard support element or other suitable structure by socket head cap screws and is secured in frictional contact with components of the hand-guard mount and a barrel nut. The anti-rotation clamping member functions as a key to “tie” the barrel nut and hand-guard nut together, simultaneously preventing either one from rotating, and thus preventing inadvertent vibration or shock induced loosening of either the hand-guard retainer nut or the barrel nut. The anti-rotation clamping member is also keyed onto the front of the upper receiver by a slot into which a portion of the receiver is engaged.

  • Publication number: 20060207156
Abstract: For firearms, particularly tactical firearms such as the AR-15 tactical rifle, a throw-lever actuated rail clamp is provided for support of various accessories such as optical sighting devices, laser sighting devices, target lighting devices on various part of a firearm to provide for use of the firearm in variable field conditions, during the day or at night. A mount clamp is releasably secured to a firearm rail by a pivotal throw-lever having an eccentric locking component. A safety latch mechanism is mounted for linear movement on the actuating arm of the throw-lever and is moveable to a latched position engaging a latching element of the clamp base to retain the throw-lever at its clamping position. The safety latch is linearly moveable from its latched position to a release position that permits rotational movement of the throw lever toward its release or non-clamping position.

  • Publication number: 20060123686
Abstract: A throw-lever releasable mounting system for mounting a device in quick-release relation to a support member has a mounting base having a configuration fitting opposed angulated rail surfaces and having a locator key engaging a positioning slot of the rail. Each mounting base provides for mounting and stabilization of optics mounting rings. A locking platform projects from the mounting base and defines a locking opening having a circular hard metal insert therein that defines a receptacle receiving a resilient member and providing for location of the spline/spindle shaft of a rotatable locking plate. A locking plate of a throw-lever that is rotatable between locking and unlocking positions has angulated and curved cam surfaces for forcibly engaging correspondingly angulated surfaces of the rail to achieve cam energized precision locating and locking engagement with the rail.
