Publication number: 20240066178Abstract: The invention relates to biodegradable bilayer sealants for tissue closure. The sealants of the invention are composed of two layers with different compliances. The layer in immediate contact with the tissue has high compliance. The second layer located immediately above the first sealant layer has low compliance, i.e. the sealant is much stiffer. The burst pressure of the bilayer sealants is enhanced relative to either a single layer elastic sealant or a single layer stiff sealant. The improved sealant compositions herein provide a water-tight seal, can access hard to reach tears, be applied in a dry or wet environment, are low-swelling, and can repair a range of incision or tear sizes. The bilayer sealants are particularly useful for sutureless dural closure or as adjuncts to sutured dural closure. Also provided herein are methods of preparing and using the biodegradable sealant compositions.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2022Publication date: February 29, 2024Applicant: Ethicon, Inc.Inventors: Salim A. Publication number: 20230264931Abstract: A lift vehicle includes a chassis, an implement, a lift arm coupling the implement to the chassis, a load sensor, a tilt sensor, and a controller. The lift arm includes an actuator configured to selectively extend the lift arm and a length sensor configured to provide data relating to a length of the lift arm. The load sensor can provide data relating to a load at the implement. The tilt sensor can provide data relating to an angular orientation of the chassis relative to a reference plane. The controller can receive data from the length sensor, the load sensor, and the tilt sensor. The controller can determine, based on the data from the load sensor and the tilt sensor, an operating envelope for the lift arm. The operating envelope can include a maximum extension of the lift arm. The controller can selectively limit an operation of the lift arm such that the lift arm operates within the operating envelope.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 20, 2023Publication date: August 24, 2023Applicant: Oshkosh CorporationInventors: Dale Tressler, Mark Neubauer, Prabhu Shankar, Michael Buhidar, Alex Dilello, Marcel Amsallen, Kurtis Thrush, Louis Bafile, Matthew Gilbride

Patent number: 10478958Abstract: Systems and apparatuses include a first tool defining a first aperture, a second tool defining a second aperture, and a connecting mechanism formed of a resilient material and including a first coupling portion sized to engage the first aperture and a second coupling portion sized to engage the second aperture. The connecting mechanism passes through the first tool and the second tool, and engages the first aperture and the second aperture in a storage configuration. The first tool provides a first mode of operation when used independently, the second tool provides a second mode of operation when used independently, and the tool system provides a third mode of operation when arranged in the storage configuration.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2017Date of Patent: November 19, 2019Assignee: Fiskars Brands, Inc.Inventors: Mark Neubauer, Hal Hardinge

Patent number: 9840001Abstract: A solid state tool system includes a first solid state tool, a second solid state tool, and a third solid state tool. In a first mode, the first solid state tool, the second solid state tool, and the third solid state tool are coupled to one another in a storage configuration. In a second mode, the first solid state tool is used as a tool by itself. In a third mode, the second solid state tool is used as a tool by itself. In a fourth mode, the third solid state tool is used as a tool by itself. In a fifth mode, the first solid state tool is coupled to the third solid state tool and used as a first combination tool. In a sixth mode, the second solid state tool is coupled to the third solid state tool and used as a second combination tool.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2015Date of Patent: December 12, 2017Assignee: Fiskars Brands, Inc.Inventors: Mark Neubauer, Hal Hardinge

Patent number: 9212794Abstract: A flashlight includes a housing that extends from a first end to a second end, a light source provided at the first end of the housing, a rechargeable power supply electrically coupled to the light source, a generator electrically coupled to the rechargeable power supply, and a hand crank coupled to the generator, the hand crank including a base and an arm, the hand crank movable between a storage position and a cranking position. The base is rotatably coupled to the second end of the housing. The arm is translatable relative to the housing between a retracted position and an extended position such that when the arm is in the extended position, the arm is pivotable relative to the base between a translation position in which the arm is substantially parallel to the housing axis and a fixed position in which the arm is substantially perpendicular to the housing axis.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2012Date of Patent: December 15, 2015Assignee: Fiskars Brands, Inc.Inventors: Brian Unger, Mark Neubauer

Patent number: 6928943Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a boat plug key system for storing, installing, and removing a boat plug consist of a canister, a canister lid, and a boat plug. The use of a boat plug key system of the present invention reduces the probability of forgetting to install the boat plug when launching the boat or removing the boat plug when taking the boat out of the water and thereby reducing the probability of damage to the boat. The present invention also serves as a key corresponding to a key slot on the boat plug enabling the installation and removal of the boat plug. Additionally, a boat plug key system embodiment of the present invention acts as a key chain and a float creating greater convenience.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2004Date of Patent: August 16, 2005Assignee: Boat Plug, LLCInventor: Mark Neubauer
