  • Patent number: 10142798
Abstract: Ultrasonic transmitters periodically transmit ranging signals at unknown transmit timer values, and an ultrasonic receiver receives the ranging signals at known receive timer values on a mobile device in a venue in which a time difference of arrival (TDOA)-based ultrasonic locationing system is deployed. A controller infers the transmit timer values, and determines a current, real-time position of the mobile device based on flight time differences between the transmit timer values inferred by the controller and the known receive timer values.

Date of Patent: November 27, 2018
    Assignee: Symbol Technologies, LLC

  • Publication number: 20090088075
Abstract: A system and method for communicating with a first network device via a first communication link established by a plurality of transceivers, the first communication link including a plurality of wireless signals and communicating with a second network device via a second communication link established by at least one of the plurality of transceivers, the second communication link including at least one wireless signals, wherein the at least one of the plurality of the receivers terminates one of the plurality of wireless signals communicating with the first network device and at least one other one of the plurality of transceivers maintains an other one of the plurality of signals communicating with the first network device.

  • Publication number: 20080105747
Abstract: Described is a system and method for selecting a portion of an image. The method comprises obtaining a first image by an image capture device, analyzing the first image to detect at least one predetermined object therein, generating a second image as a function of the first image, the second image including at least one portion of the first image, the at least one portion including the at least one predetermined object, selecting one of the portions and performing a predetermined operation on the selected portion.

  • Publication number: 20080106518
Abstract: Described is a tactile input arrangement for a computing device. A portable computing device comprises a housing, a first input arrangement forming at least a portion of a first external surface of the housing and receiving input data from a user and a second input arrangement forming at least a portion of a second external surface of the housing and receiving further input data from the user, the second external surface facing in a direction substantially opposite to the first external surface.

  • Publication number: 20080073434
Abstract: Describe is a computing device comprising an imaging arrangement, a processor and an output arrangement. The imaging arrangement obtains an image. The processor processes the image to determine a corresponding status of the image as a function of at least one predetermined decodability parameter. The output arrangement displays the image and a feedback signal of the corresponding status.

  • Patent number: 6064315
Abstract: Detection of a zero speed or moving railway vehicle wheel or other metallic object is accomplished by providing a balanced E-core inductive detector. An exciter coil on the center leg of the E-core inductively couples a pair of sensor coils connected in series opposition on the outside legs of the E-core. A voltage detector responsive to unbalancing of the E-core magnetic field by a train wheel or other metallic object is connected to the output of the sensor coils. A zero speed wheel located at the center of the magnetic field is detected by using the output of one of the sensor coils compared with the phase shifted and amplitude adjusted exciter signal. Speed and direction of travel are also determined by monitoring wheel detection output sequencing and timing.
