  • Publication number: 20210181064
Abstract: A method for estimating a condition of a tire is provided. The tire supports a vehicle and is mounted on a wheel. The wheel is rotatably mounted on an axle. A sensor is mounted on at least one of the tire, the wheel, the axle, and a component of the brake system. Vibrational data is measured with the sensor. The data from the sensor is transmitted to a processor, and the data is processed. The processed data is normalized and at least one of the normalized data and pre-processed data is input into a machine learning model. A condition estimation for the tire is generated, which includes at least one of a tread depth of the tire, a pressure of the tire, and a dual tire mismatch.

  • Publication number: 20170260956
Abstract: A starter assembly including a starter and starting device. The starter includes: an electric motor including a motor shaft; an output shaft non-rotatably connected to the motor shaft; and a one-way clutch including a first race including an axially fixed pinion gear and a second race non-rotatably connected to the output shaft. The starting device includes a wrap spring clutch with first and second ends. For a start mode: the electric motor rotates the motor shaft and the pinion gear in a first circumferential direction; the pinion gear rotates the second end, with respect to the first end, in the first circumferential direction; and, the wrap spring clutch rotates a torque converter shell in the first circumferential direction. For a first phase of a release mode: the electric motor rotates the second race in a second circumferential direction; and the first race rotates in the second circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 8776974
Abstract: A starting device for a vehicle includes a spring support ring and a coiled clutch. The coiled clutch has a first end frictionally engaged with the spring support ring, a center portion connected to the first end and arranged for compressive engagement with an outer shell of a torque converter, and a second end connected to the center portion and arranged for rotational displacement in a first direction relative to the first end to compressively engage the center portion with the outer shell. In some example embodiments, the spring support ring encircles the coiled clutch. In some example embodiments, the spring support ring includes a circumferential groove for receiving the first end. In an example embodiment, a free diameter of the first end is greater than a free diameter of the center portion.
