  • Patent number: 9768956
Abstract: Methods and systems for facilitating communications between a vehicle and a service provider are provided. A first address of a vehicle communication device and a second address of a service provider communication device are obtained at a remote location that is remote to both the vehicle and the service provider. A set of keys, including a first key and a second key, is generated at the remote server. The first key is for use by the vehicle in establishing communications with the service provider, and the second key is for use by the service provider in establishing communications with the vehicle. The first key is provided to the vehicle, and the second key is provided to the service provider.

  • Publication number: 20130132286
Abstract: A method for servicing a subscriber vehicle involves establishing a connection, via a telematics unit, with a communications device at a third party facility. A packet data message is sent from the telematics unit to a telematics service center. The packet data message includes identification information of the vehicle, and is sent using an internet protocol address of the third party facility. Via a processor associated with the telematics service center, the subscriber vehicle is identified from the identification information, and the third party facility is identified from the internet protocol address. A notification message is sent from the telematics service center to the third party facility, where the message indicates that the subscriber vehicle is available for servicing. Also disclosed herein are systems for accomplishing the same.

  • Patent number: 7506309
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and a method for managing a software configuration of a vehicle. Software configuration update data for a vehicle is requested from a central database from one of a call center or a telematics unit. Vehicle software configuration data representative of a vehicle software configuration is retrieved. A determination is made whether the software configuration update data corresponds with the vehicle software configuration data and a software module is sent from the call center to the telematics unit via a wireless network based on the determination. A computer usable medium with suitable computer program code is employed for managing the software configuration of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5020049
Abstract: An amplitude-modulated vestigial-sideband, television channel sub-carrier multiplexed optical fiber transmission system includes a laser diode operating linearly throughout the desired range of multiplex frequencies. Such linear laser diode operation is accomplished by limiting leakage current within the laser diode to a very low level. The composite second-order distortion in the optical output signal from the laser diode is down typically 50 db from the video carrier for each channel. For some laser diodes that exhibit slow turn-on in the L-I characteristic, there is a point of inflection in the L-I curve. Operation with the laser biased at or near this point results in extremely linear performance, even though the laser may have insufficient blocking of leakage current to otherwise produce acceptable linearity.
