  • Patent number: 5643787
Abstract: Methods and compositions are provided for the culture of human primary carcinomas and in situ carcinomas. Feeder layers derived from a human parotid basal cell carcinoma, having the HMS-1 phenotype, are able to support the growth of the primary carcinomas, and allow for spheroid formation. Invasion inhibiting factors active against human tumors, derived from HMS-1, are also provided.Human basement membrane and extracellular matrix is provided, produced by a tumorigenic cell line, where the basement membrane and extracellular matrix can be used for the growth of a variety of cells, in culture and in vivo. Other related cell lines are provided, which can serve to evaluate in vivo the response of tumorigenic cells to various agents, including basement membrane and extracellular matrix. The basement membrane and extracellular matrix finds use in allowing the growth of cells in culture and in vivo, particularly cells which are otherwise refractory to xenografting.

  • Patent number: 5508188
Abstract: Human basement membrane matrix is provided, produced by a novel tumorigenic cell line, where the basement membrane can be used for the growth of a variety of cells, in culture and in vivo. Other cell lines are provided, which may serve to evaluate in vivo the response of tumorigenic cells to various agents, including basement membrane. The basement membrane finds use in allowing the growth of cells in culture and in vivo, particularly cells which are otherwise refractory to xenografting.

  • Patent number: 4408263
Abstract: A disposable flashlight includes a battery and bulb within a casing, a conductive clip engaging the battery and extending through an elongated peripheral slot in the casing, and a conductive member engaging a terminal of the light and extending into proximity with the end of the clip so that the end of the clip can be pushed through a contact opening in the casing into electrical contact with the conductive member to turn the light on. The peripheral slot extends a sufficient distance along the circumference of the casing so that the clip can be rotated within the slot to an "off" position in which its end no longer overlies the contact opening within the casing. In that position, the light cannot be activated when pressure is applied to the clip.

  • Patent number: 4052610
Abstract: A front body assembly and rear body assembly, hingedly connected together at their bottom and detented at their top for selective opening and closing, co-operate with each other to form a flashlight case assembly which receives and mounts a flashlight bulb and dry cell battery to thus provide a flashlight. A reflector assembly, carried by the front body assembly, is formed with a substantially annular reflecting surface disposed about a substantially annular transparent area which, in turn, surrounds an opening centrally disposed to receive a flashlight bulb when such bulb is positioned on a component mounting plate assembly carried by the rear body assembly.
