  • Publication number: 20170189941
Abstract: Check valves including in situ cleaning mechanisms are shown and described. The check valves include a side wall, an opening, a disc disposed within the opening and configured to be moveable between an open position and a closed position, and a cleaning mechanism. The cleaning mechanism includes a port in the side wall configured to be coupled to a fluid source to spray fluid onto an inner surface of the side wall and the disc to clear debris from the check valve. In some examples, the port is an access port configured to be coupled to a nozzle for coupling the fluid source to the port. In some further examples, the cleaning mechanism includes a handle operatively coupled to the disc to move the disc between the open position and the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20170138014
Abstract: Pick hole guards are provided for use in guarding pick holes on manhole covers. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the pick hole guards can have a base, biasing member, and guard member. The biasing member can be attached to the base and guard member, and can bias the guard member toward a pick hole on the manhole cover to guard the pick hole. In other embodiments, the pick hole guards do not have movable guard members, but instead have retaining surfaces to serve as a receptacle for catching waste disposed through a pick hole.

  • Patent number: 9563632
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for improving the efficiency of garbage collection in a deduplication system by intelligently managing storage of deduplication segments. When a duplicate segment is identified, a reference count for an already maintained segment is incremented only if the already maintained segment has the same lifecycle as the identified duplicate segment. In some instances, an already maintained segment is assumed to have the same lifecycle if it is not stale or the age is not significantly different from the age of the newly identified duplicate. If the already maintained segment is has a different lifecycle, the new segment is stored again even though duplicates are already maintained.

  • Publication number: 20160359749
Abstract: Implementations described and claimed herein provide a system and methods for balancing network loads across distinct provider networks. In one implementation, a virtual network representative of at least a first provider network is established having at least one interconnection point where network traffic is exchanged between the first provider network and a second provider network and having at least one provider edge port and at least one potential interconnection point. A measurement of a bandwidth between the at least one provider edge port and the at least one interconnection point is obtained. A measurement of a distance between the at least one provider edge port and a geographically closest of the at least one potential interconnection point or the at least one interconnection point is obtained. A network load indication for the first provider network as a function of the bandwidth measurement and the distance measurement is obtained.

  • Patent number: 9297569
Abstract: A system and method for cooling an environmental test chamber is described where a controller is in communication with an auxiliary cooling unit and the primary refrigeration unit. A first chamber temperature measurement associated with the environmental test chamber is received, and the heat load associated with a target temperature is determined. Based on the first chamber temperature measurement and the heat load, it is determined that the auxiliary cooling unit can sustain the target temperature. In response to the determination, the controller is used to transmit a signal to power on the auxiliary cooling unit and a signal to time out the primary refrigeration unit.
