  • Publication number: 20050285799
Abstract: A headset has a first and an optional second earpiece 12, 16 respectively coupled to a plug 30 via first and an optional second conductors 14, 20, 18, 22. An antenna loop section 36 has a first loop section 31 at least partially bound to a portion of the first conductor 20, and a second loop section 33 bound to at least a portion of the second conductor 22. Where bound, the first conductor and first loop section may be coaxial or side-by-side. The loop sections include inductors 42,44, and the conductors include ferrite rings 38,40 near the earpieces. A connector 24 mechanically holds the first and second conductors in proximity to one another, and also includes a conductive bridge 34 to electrically couple the first and second loop segments, which may be via a contact connection or a capacitive connection. Audio and RF signals are separated by frequency in a device 50 to which the headset is coupled.

  • Publication number: 20050278794
Abstract: A media file content provider 30 sends a non-permanent copy of a media file, such as a music or video file, to a second mobile station MS 34 in response to a request from a first MS 22. The copy may be rendered non-permanent by streaming it, by encrypting it, and by appending a first instruction to automatically delete it after playing. The first MS 22 may be given an option of delivery pathways, such as cellular 76, 78, WLAN 80, or DVB-H 84. After playing, an offer is made to the second MS 34 to purchase a permanent copy of the media file. If accepted, the content provider may provide another copy of the media file, or preferably a permanent decryption key or a second instruction that defeats the first instruction prior to its deletion of the media file.

  • Publication number: 20050264704
Abstract: A method of enhancing the viewing of information in digital video format in a media device is provided. Digital video information is read from a memory and converted with a controller into a television signal. The television signal is low pass filtered with a filtering unit in a wireless communication unit of the media device. A wireless communication signal is generated with an oscillator in the wireless communication unit and the signal is divided in a divider with a predefined factor to obtain an RF frequency signal which is further multiplied with a multiplier in the wireless communication unit by the television signal, thus obtaining a multiplied television signal in an RF output connector in the wireless communication unit of the media device.

  • Publication number: 20050227705
Abstract: A data communication method in a communication system is provided. Speech and/or data is transmitted and received by a mobile device of the communication system using a predetermined transmission resource. The location of the mobile device of the communication system is determined. Information about the location of the mobile device is transmitted, with the speech or data, to a predetermined group of users by using the predetermined transmission resource.

  • Publication number: 20050170798
Abstract: A method and a device used for displaying wideband information to a user has a return channel made through a cellular mobile terminal providing interactivity. The device (10) has a first antenna (12) and a second antenna (20), a receiver (14, 16) that is coupled to the first antenna and a transmitter (24) that is coupled to the second antenna. The method includes, prior to receiving information in symbol-wise manner with the receiver in a first band of radio frequencies, generating a notification of reception with the receiver by asserting a DVB_RX_ON signal (16A) and, in response to the notification, requesting a change of transmitter transmission frequencies from a second band of radio frequencies to a third band of radio frequencies that is predetermined to avoid interference with the reception of the information in the first band of radio frequencies.

  • Patent number: 6892076
Abstract: A method and a device used for displaying wideband information to a user has a return channel made through a cellular mobile terminal (CMT) providing interactivity. The device (10) has a first antenna (12) and a second antenna (20), a receiver (14, 16) that is coupled to the first antenna and a transmitter (24) that is coupled to the second antenna. The method includes, prior to receiving information in a symbol-wise manner with the receiver in a first band of radio frequencies, generating a notification of reception with the receiver by asserting a DVB_RX_ON signal (16A) and, in response to the notification, requesting a change of transmitter transmission frequencies from a second band of radio frequencies to a third band of radio frequencies that is predetermined to avoid interference with the reception of the information in the first band of radio frequencies.

The device (10) has a first antenna (12) and a second antenna (20), a receiver (14, 16) that is coupled to the first antenna and a transmitter (24) that is coupled to the second antenna. The method includes receiving information in a bit-wise manner with the receiver in a first band of RF frequencies; generating a notification of an occurrence of a burst transmission from the transmitter; and in response to the notification, terminating the reception of the information for a portion of one bit time corresponding to a duration of the burst transmission. The method may include an optional step, further in response to the notification, of reducing power consumption by turning off at least a portion of the receiver for a period of time corresponding to the duration of the burst transmission.

  • Publication number: 20030157907
Abstract: A method for securing the operation of a receiver in a two-way radio apparatus by enhancing the isolation between the transmitter and receiver, and a radio apparatus employing said method. The transmitter and receiver in a radio apparatus have separate antennas (320, 330). The transmitter has at least two mutually alternative filters which have different attenuations in the receive band. Transmitting antenna matching is monitored by measuring the strength of the field (re) reflected from the antenna (320) towards the power amplifier (PA). When the strength of the reflected field in proportion to the strength of the propagating field is above a certain threshold, the filter (312) which has a greater stop-band attenuation in the receive band will be used as the transmitting filter. Otherwise, the filter (311) which has a smaller stop-band attenuation and, hence, smaller pass-band attenuation will be used as the transmitting filter.

  • Patent number: 6563883
Abstract: A transmitter has an input for receiving a signal, gain controller for applying a first gain to the received signal, a first path for providing a second, relatively high gain for the received signal, a second path for providing a third, relatively low gain for said received signal, a transmitter for transmitting a signal and a controller to cause a received signal to pass through the gain controller and the first path when a relatively high gain is to be applied to the received signal and to cause a received signal to pass through the gain controller and the second path when a relatively low gain is to be applied to the received signal. When a change is made from using one of the first and second paths to using the other, the power of the signal transmitted by the transmitter varies by less than or equal to a predetermined amount.
