  • Patent number: 11972259
Abstract: A machine instruction to find a condition location within registers, such as vector registers. The machine instruction has associated therewith a register to be examined and a result location. The register includes a plurality of elements. In execution, the machine instruction counts a number of contiguous elements of the plurality of elements of the register having a particular value in a selected location within the contiguous elements. Other locations within the contiguous elements are ignored for the counting. The counting provides a count placed in the result location.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 3, 2019
Date of Patent: April 30, 2024
    Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION
Inventors: Michael K. Gschwind, Markus Kaltenbach, Jentje Leenstra, Brett Olsson

  • Publication number: 20220281355
Abstract: A method for heating a battery in a vehicle comprises: setting, by a control unit, an alternating current (AC) storage device to a first operation mode; charging the AC storage device by transferring energy stored in the battery to the AC storage device; determining whether a charging level of the AC storage device corresponds to a defined upper threshold, setting the AC storage device to a second operation mode, when the charging level of the AC storage device is determined to correspond to the defined upper threshold, discharging the AC storage device by transferring energy stored in the AC storage device to the battery, determining whether a charging level of the AC storage device corresponds to a defined lower threshold, and setting the AC storage device to the first operation mode, when the charging level of the AC storage device is determined to correspond to the defined lower threshold.

  • Patent number: 8224537
Abstract: A clutch temperature prediction module for a dual clutch transmission (DCT) includes at least one clutch slip power module that determines a first clutch slip power of a first clutch and a second clutch slip power of a second clutch. A temperature calculation module receives the first clutch slip power, the second clutch slip power, an ambient air temperature, an engine oil temperature, and a transmission oil temperature, and calculates at least one clutch plate temperature and a clutch housing temperature based on the first clutch slip power, the second clutch slip power, the ambient air temperature, the engine oil temperature, and the transmission oil temperature using a linear time-invariant (LTI) model.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 3, 2010
Date of Patent: July 17, 2012

  • Publication number: 20110012400
Abstract: The present invention relates to a vehicle seat, in particular a backseat, comprising a head restraint (1) mounted on the backrest of the vehicle seat, wherein the head restraint (1) comprises a mechanism for folding the head restraint between at least one fixed operative position and at least one stowage position, characterised in that the vehicle seat further comprises an anti-whiplash system including a release mechanism associated with the head restraint (1), which release mechanism is adapted to, when the head restraint (1) is in an operative position, reduce the gap between an occupants head and the head restraint (1) in case of an accident.
