  • Publication number: 20230223551
Abstract: A lithium ion cell includes a ribbon-shaped electrode-separator assembly having an anode, a separator, and a cathode. The electrode-separator assembly has two terminal end faces or two terminal sides. The anode comprises a ribbon-shaped anode current collector having a first longitudinal edge, the cathode comprises a ribbon-shaped cathode current collector having a first longitudinal edge, and the electrode-separator assembly is enclosed in a housing. The first longitudinal edge of the anode current collector protrudes from one of the terminal end faces or terminal sides of the stack and the first longitudinal edge of the cathode current collector protrudes from the other. A contact sheet metal member is in direct contact with a respective longitudinal edge. A part of the housing serves as the contact sheet metal member and/or the contact sheet metal member forms a part of the housing enclosing the electrode-separator assembly.

  • Publication number: 20160204413
Abstract: A process of producing positive electrodes for lithium ion batteries including providing a composition containing at least one active material that takes up and releases lithium ions during charging and discharging of a lithium ion battery, at least one electrode binder, at least one conductivity improver and water as a solvent and/or suspension medium; providing a current collector having a surface composed of aluminium or of an aluminium alloy; and applying the composition to the surface of the current collector, wherein the composition is alcalinically modified by addition of at least one base so that the pH of the composition is increased before it is applied to the surface of the current collector.

  • Patent number: 9373865
Abstract: A method produces electrode windings, in which method a strip- or ribbon-like anode and a strip- or ribbon-like cathode are provided and flat collector lugs are formed on at least one longitudinal side of the anode and of the cathode at varying distances and/or contours are cut into the longitudinal sides of the electrodes. The anode and the cathode are wound up together with a strip- or ribbon-like separator to form a winding with the sequence anode/separator/cathode. The method is distinguished, in particular, in that the process of forming collector lugs and/or of cutting contours and the process of winding up overlap with respect to time.

  • Publication number: 20150207133
Abstract: A battery includes a housing, at least one individual cell with at least one positive and at least one negative electrode arranged in the housing, a positive tap pole connected to the at least one positive electrode, and a negative tap pole connected to the at least one negative electrode. The battery also includes at least one thermal switch which, in the event of an increase in temperature within the housing beyond a temperature threshold value, changes its switching state as a result of a temperature-induced expansion and/or deformation and trips a safety mechanism which suppresses a further increase in temperature.

  • Publication number: 20120164502
Abstract: A galvanic element has a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a separator lying in between, wherein the separator consists at least partially of a polymer of which the melting and/or softening temperature is >200° C. A multi-layer separator for galvanic elements, in particular for lithium-ion batteries, includes at least one layer of the polymer with a melting and/or softening temperature >200° C.
