  • Patent number: 4754805
Abstract: A method for transforming heat to a higher temperature and a heat transformer. By supplying heat of intermediate temperature T.sub.1 to a solid adsorbent at a low pressure, a previously adsorbed working fluid is desorbed from the solid adsorbent. The generated working fluid vapor is transformed to a liquid phase at a lower temperature T.sub.0 while releasing the phase changed heat. At relatively high pressure, heat is supplied to a liquid phase of the working fluid, which is transformed to the gaseous phase, which is then adsorbed in a solid adsorbent while liberating the heat of adsorption. The process is continued by alternately regenerating/saturating the solid adsorbent. The use of an absorbent fluid for changing the phase of the working fluid allows higher output temperatures and choice of the pressure levels used. An internal heat exchange method is included for the efficient use of the sensible heat of the solid adsorbent in systems with two or more containers with solid adsorbent.

  • Patent number: 4594856
Abstract: A method and device are provided for increasing the temperature of heat. By supplying heat at a temperature T.sub.2 to a solid adsorbent, a working fluid is desorbed from this adsorbent at a relatively high pressure. The evolving gaseous working fluid is transformed to a liquid phase at a temperature T.sub.1 ' (T.sub.1 ' T.sub.2) while liberating heat. The working fluid is then transformed to the gaseous phase at a lower temperature T.sub.0 and a lower pressure p.sub.0 while heat is supplied. The generated gaseous working fluid is absorbed in a second adsorber/generator in a solid adsorbent. The absorber/generators periodically change between the adsorption and desorption phase and are operated in opposite phases. Before an interchange of the function of the two adsorber/generators, an internal heat exchange is carried out. The internal heat exchange includes a pressure equalization step with a subsequent heat transfer by a heat transfer loop.

  • Patent number: 4410028
Abstract: Process for storing heat and for upgrading its temperature, in which a working substance is expelled from an absorbing substance by means of heat of a predetermined intermediate temperature range, the vapor of the working substanced generated during the expulsion step being condensed at a comparatively low temperature and the condensed working substance being evaporated in the intermediate temperature range and being absorbed in the absorbing substance under an increased pressure and at a relatively high temperature while generating heat of absorption, in which a zeolite is used as the absorbing substances and water is used as the working substance.
