Publication number: 20140156410Abstract: Systems and methods for delivering transport aware publications to users in a network-based environment are discussed. In an example, a method for delivering transport aware advertisements can include receiving user-related location data, determining if a user is inside a transport time defined geofence, generating an advertisement, transmitting the advertisement, and optionally updating the advertisement. The transport time defined geofence may be specified by an advertiser to be directed to a set of users who are capable of traveling to a point of interest, such as a retail location, in the specified time period. The advertisement may be updated and include a dynamic content portion of the advertisement, and at least the updated dynamic content portion may be transmitted to the user. The advertisement is generated based at least in part on the user-related location data and transport data.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2012Publication date: June 5, 2014Applicant: eBay Inc.Inventors: Markus Wuersch, Sumit Shah

Patent number: 8560225Abstract: The present invention includes a system and method for selecting a unique geographic feature, including a mobile device that uses position and orientation sensors to determine a user position and a user orientation. The mobile device is adapted for wireless communication with a database that houses or has access to data concerning geographic features, as well as processing and computing means for calculating specific geographic relations discussed in further detail below. The system of the present invention further includes means for selecting among those features that are topologically related to the polygon. These include means for defining the geometry of the polygon, means for filtering those features that should not be within the geometry of the polygon, and means for ranking those features within the polygon. The method of the present invention is operable in conjunction with the system through the system hardware and software.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2008Date of Patent: October 15, 2013Assignee: iPointer, Inc.Inventors: Christopher Edward Frank, Markus Wuersch, Daniel P. Martin

Patent number: 8538676Abstract: The present invention includes a mobile geographic information system and method. The method includes the steps of inputting data representing a user position, defining a first circularly spatially extended point (CSEP) about the user in response to the user position data, defining a first waypoint associated with a geographic feature, defining a second CSEP about the first waypoint, and providing a qualitative user position relative to the geographic feature in response to a predetermined topological relationship between the first CSEP and the second CSEP. The mobile geographic information system includes a database containing geographic information including information related to a geographic feature and information relating to a first waypoint associated with the geographic feature and a mobile device in communication with the database, wherein the mobile device includes a controller and a position sensor for determining a user position associated with the mobile device.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2006Date of Patent: September 17, 2013Assignee: Ipointer, Inc.Inventors: Markus Wuersch, David Caduff

Publication number: 20130085860Abstract: Systems and methods for delivering context sensitive dynamic mobile advertisements are discussed. In an example, a method for delivering context sensitive dynamic mobile advertisements can include receiving user-related context data, generating an advertisement, transmitting the advertisement, updating a dynamic content portion of the advertisement, and transmitting at least the updated dynamic content portion. The advertisement is generated based at least in part on the user-related context data, and includes the dynamic content portion to display dynamic data related to the user-related context data.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2012Publication date: April 4, 2013Applicant: eBay Inc.Inventors: Joshua Summers, Markus Wuersch, Ronald J. Braunfeld, Ivan Mitrovic
