Patent number: 7325566Abstract: A filtering seal for a solenoid valve has an annular base member which defines an axial first retainer surface and a radial sealing surface. Legs extend from the base member. An annular screen support member is attached to the legs and has an axial second retainer surface. The first and second retainer surfaces are on outside diameters of the base member and screen support member. A cylindrical filter screen has one end mounted on the base member and the other end mounted on the screen support member, in engagement with the retainer surfaces. The base member may have bosses protruding from an end face to form a rotary seal suitable for engagement with a swivel connector. The radial sealing surface of the base member is located outwardly of the filter screen where the radial sealing surface can be compressed without affecting the filter screen.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2004Date of Patent: February 5, 2008Assignee: Sloan Valve CompanyInventors: Martin E. Patent number: 7304569Abstract: A network of wirelessly connected sanitary appliances, their associated triggering devices and a remotely located network node is disclosed. The remotely located network node permits the monitoring and gathering of information concerning the appliances and their associated triggering devices. The network node can be connected to a LAN and/or the internet allowing the node to communicate with responsible parties. In addition, a control board having a central processing unit is wirelessly connected as an intermediary between the appliances and triggering devices and the network node. Communication between the appliances and their triggering devices uses low frequency RF signals. Communication to the remotely located network node uses high frequency RF signals.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2005Date of Patent: December 4, 2007Assignee: Sloan Valve CompanyInventor: Martin E. Patent number: 6898552Abstract: An electronic plumbing device, such as a faucet, has a microprocessor that is programmed to periodically purge stagnant water remaining in the faucet at predetermined time intervals. The microprocessor energizes a solenoid associated with a water valve to initiate the flow of water through the faucet in response to a detector sensing the presence of a user near the faucet. A first timer is programmed into the microprocessor and controls the minimum run time of the faucet for activations initiated by either a user or by the purge feature. A second timer is also programmed into the microprocessor to measure a second predetermined time interval. If the faucet is not used during the second predetermined time interval, the microprocessor will energize the solenoid for the minimum run time to open the water valve and flush out any stagnant water remaining in the faucet from the prior activation.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2003Date of Patent: May 24, 2005Assignee: Sloan Valve CompanyInventor: Martin E. Publication number: 20040254746Abstract: An electronic plumbing device, such as a faucet, has a microprocessor that is programmed to periodically purge water remaining in the faucet at predetermined time intervals to reduce bacterial count in the faucet by discharging any stagnant water with a minimum run time during each activation. The microprocessor energizes a solenoid associated with a water valve to initiate the flow of water through the faucet in response to a detector sensing the presence of a user near the faucet. A first timer is programmed into the microprocessor and controls the minimum run time of the faucet for activations intiated by either a user or by the purge feature, such as about 8 seconds. A second timer is also programmed into the microprocessor to measure a second predetermined time interval of about 4 hours.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2003Publication date: December 16, 2004Inventor: Martin E. Patent number: 6408873Abstract: A flush valve for use with urinals or water closets includes a hollow valve body having an inlet, an outlet, and a valve seat therebetween. There is a piston assembly movable in the hollow valve body to a closing position on the valve seat to control flow through the valve. A pressure chamber is above the piston assembly for holding it on the valve seat. There is a bypass passage to the piston assembly to connect the inlet with the pressure chamber to provide fluid to move the piston assembly to the closing position. The bypass passage includes a filter and an orifice, with the filter including multiple filters in series between the inlet and the bypass.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2000Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Assignee: Sloan Valve CompanyInventors: David C. Patent number: 6294786Abstract: An electronic faucet sensor assembly includes a base having a pair of openings facing in a generally downward direction when the assembly is mounted in an electronically operated faucet. There is an infrared transmitter positioned in one of the openings and an infrared receiver positioned in the other opening. There is a lens mounted to the base and covering the transmitter and a second lens mounted to the base and covering the receiver. Electrical lead wires are attached to the transmitter and to the receiver and the lead wires extend through a channel located in the base. There is a strain relief at one end of the channel and there is a rib to isolate the leads extending between the strain relief and the transmitter and receiver so as to prevent electrical contact therebetween. The channel is filled with a potting compound to provide a watertight environment for the electrical components.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1998Date of Patent: September 25, 2001Assignee: Sloan Valve CompanyInventors: Martin E.
