Abstract: A toothbrush having a handle portion and a neck portion connecting the handle portion with a head. The head has a brushing side and a rear side. The brushing side includes a plurality of bristle tufts for cleaning the teeth. The tufts are attachable in the head through tufting apertures, with each tufting aperture being assigned a blind-end hole having sidewalls and a bottom. The cross-sectional area of the head between a first bottom and the rear side differing from a cross-sectional area of the head between a second bottom and the rear side. The first bottom and the second bottom are arranged in the head in such a way that the minimum distance between the first bottom and the rear side as well as the minimum distance between the second bottom and the rear side are each in the range of between about 0.5 and about 2.5 mm.

  • Patent number: 7774319
Abstract: In an embodiment, a database interface performs a three-step optimistic database access. The database interface initially performs an optimistic read of a database object. The database object is checked for consistency after the optimistic read. If the database object is inconsistent, a first pessimistic read is performed with an isolation level that does not guarantee consistency (e.g., with an isolation level of committed read). The database object is checked again for consistency after the first pessimistic read. If the database object is inconsistent, a second pessimistic read is performed with an isolation level that may guarantee consistency (e.g., with an isolation level of repeatable read).

  • Publication number: 20100175206
Abstract: The invention relates to a valve coupling (1.1) having a discharge part (2.1) and a receiving part which can be coupled to the discharge part and which has a valve function which, in the coupled state, allows the transmission of a fluid or paste-like material from the discharge part to the receiving part. In the decoupled state, the discharge part and the receiving part are closed in a fluid-tight manner. The discharge part has a discharge valve, and the receiving part (3.1) has a receiving valve. The coupling or decoupling results in an opening or closing of the valves and is carried out by elastic deformation, wherein, in the case of coupling, the valves are opened only when the discharge part is connected to the receiving part in a fluid-tight manner, and in the case of decoupling, the valves are closed before the fluid-tight connection is broken.

  • Patent number: 7702696
Abstract: Methods and a system for managing database usage. The methods and system include receiving a request to create a table, determining the table is an empty table, and storing a pseudo-table in a data store in response to determining the table is empty. The pseudo-table may be a database view. Metadata related to a table may be stored in the pseudo-table to describe characteristics of the table. The pseudo-table occupies less space than a corresponding empty table. The system may implement the methods in middleware transparent to the applications.

  • Patent number: 7569385
Abstract: A source of multipotent amniotic fluid/fetal stem cells (MAFSCs) is disclosed. MAFSC are of fetal origin and have a normal diploid karyotype. These cells are characterized by the following cell surface markers: SSEA3, SSEA4, Tra-1-60, Tra-1-81, Tra-2-54, HLA class I, CD13, CD44, CD49b, CD105 and are distinguished by the absence of the antigen markers CD34, CD45, and HLA Class II, but are distinguished from mouse embryonic stem cells in that these cells do not express the cell surface marker SSEA1. MAFSC express the stem cell transcription factor Oct-4. MAFSC cells can be propagated for an indefinite period of time in continuous culture in an undifferentiated state. The MAFSCs have the ability to differentiate in culture in a regulated manner, into three or more subphenotypes. Cells can then be differentiated into endodermal, mesodermal and ectodermal derived tissues in vitro and in vivo. A method for isolating, identifying, expanding and differentiating MAFSCs is disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20090155046
Abstract: A nacelle assembly for a turbine engine has a cowl. The cowl extends along an axis and has an exterior surface spaced from an interior surface. The interior surface forms an air inlet for directing airflow to the turbine engine. An opening is disposed on the cowl. A device for creating suction through the opening is in fluid communication with the opening. The opening removes a portion of a boundary layer flow through the cowl, thereby providing higher energy flow along the interior surface.

  • Patent number: 7461097
Abstract: In a software system (200/210/220) with a business application (200), database migration from a source database (210) to a physically different target database (230) is performed by a migration tool (260) that evaluates database instructions (201) that the application (200) consecutively sends to the source database (210). The migration tool (260) stores representations (254, 255) of an action type (205, D, I, U) and of a key (231) in a log table (250) when an action type coincides with a predetermined action type (D, I, U); copies source table entries to the target table (240); and adjusts entries in the target table that have keys represented in the log table (250). During migration, the application (200) and the source table continue communicating.

  • Publication number: 20060129970
Abstract: The present invention comprises systems and methods for production planning analysis using discrete event simulation methods. In one embodiment, a system includes a first software module to receive process definition data for the production process that organizes the data into a suitable formatted input file that defines the process. A second software module performs a discrete event simulation on the input file and generates an output file. A third software module generates at least one user accessible file from the output file. In another embodiment, a method of analyzing a manufacturing process includes receiving process definition data for the manufacturing process, and generating an input file from the process definition data. The method further includes processing the input file in a discrete event simulation (DES) engine to generate selected statistical data for the process, and generating an output file that includes the selected statistical data.
