  • Publication number: 20230351905
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting and evaluating turbulence for an aircraft. The apparatus contains a measuring device for acquiring a value, which indicates a movement of the aircraft relative to the earth, and a second measuring device for acquiring a second value, which indicates a movement of the aircraft relative to the air. The apparatus contains a computing system which receives the two values and determines a difference between the first value and the second value and, on the basis of the difference, a turbulence intensity. The computing system compares the second value with a predefined value range and classifies turbulence as classified turbulence if the second value departs from the predefined value range. The computing system determines the frequency of occurrence of such classified turbulences and detects a turbulent flight state on the basis of the determined turbulence intensity and the frequency of occurrence of the classified turbulences.

  • Patent number: 9728094
Abstract: An automatic landing system contains a control device for providing positional data for controlling an aircraft, a first position or range measuring device for detecting first positional data of the aircraft, a second position or range measuring device for detecting second positional data of the aircraft, and a sensor device for detecting sensor data from which a direction in which a landmark is located and/or a distance of the landmark to the aircraft can be determined. The control device may be configured to generate, based on the first positional data, a first hypothesis for the direction and distance of the landmark and, based on the second positional data, a second hypothesis for the direction and distance of the landmark. Moreover, the control device may be configure to confirm or discard the first hypothesis and the second hypothesis, respectively, using the sensor data detected by the sensor device.

  • Patent number: 7676303
Abstract: A system and method for converting an aircraft from a flight condition lying outside a permissible flight condition range to a flight condition lying within the permissible flight condition range, that can be assigned to a sensor system and a control device of the aircraft. The system includes a control override module for taking over or returning the control authority over the aircraft based on a control take-over signal and for feeding control set points if the control takeover signal is set; a maneuver selection module; a threshold value generator for calculating the flight range limit on the basis of measured variables of the sensor system; a decision module; a command generator that is functionally connected on the one hand to the decision module and the maneuver selection module and on the other hand to the control override module and, when the control takeover signal is set, calculates the control set points based on the maneuver information and transmits them to the control override module.
