Publication number: 20220343568Abstract: The present invention seeks to reduce the burden of producing high-resolution tomograms by using an initial scan on a predetermined grid 10 to obtain a minimal set of images, and then regions of interest 20 are identified for further scanning. The further scanning locations 40 are determined by image entropy or gradient found in the previous iteration; such regions are indicative of edges, cracks or complex structure within the region. After each iteration, the level of information (e.g. image entropy or gradient) will decrease relative to the pixel/voxel size. In this way, a more efficient way to scan is achieved.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 8, 2022Publication date: October 27, 2022Inventors: Gil Travish, Steve Wells, Martin Holden, Ian Mitchell

Patent number: 10893838Abstract: The disclosed system includes an emitter array for generating x-rays, a detector array for sensing a flux of x-rays transmitted through a region of interest; apparatus for holding, moving and aligning the emitter array relative to the region of interest and the detector array; electronic means for controlling the emitters and for reading and analyzing the output from the detectors and converting it to image data, and a display for displaying and manipulating the image data. The individual emitters are operated in multiple groups each illuminating a region of interest between the emitter array and the detector array such that the cone of radiation rays projected on the detector array from any single emitter in any one such group is substantially spatially separated from the corresponding projected cones from all other emitters in that same group.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2016Date of Patent: January 19, 2021Assignee: Begbroke Science Park, CIEInventors: Gil Travish, Paul Betteridge, Mark Evans, Martin Holden, Abdul Sami Mughal, Kristin Schmiedehausen

Patent number: 10862974Abstract: A method executed by a local computing device communicatively coupled to a signature device includes launching a signature device control instance including a local web server. The control instance controls the signature device and receives signature data from the signature device, and listens to a localhost and a first port corresponding to a first URL. The method further includes retrieving, by a web browser executing on the local computing device, a web page from a remote server with a second URL. The web page includes a document indicating a context for a signature to be input by the signature device, and a cross-domain reference indicating the first URL. The method further includes, by the web browser, establishing a connection with the first port listened to by the control instance using the first URL; controlling the signature device; and receiving signature data from the signature device.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2018Date of Patent: December 8, 2020Assignee: Wacom Co., Ltd.Inventors: Felix Robles, Martin Holden

Patent number: 10846510Abstract: Handwriting verification methods and related computer systems, and handwriting-based user authentication methods and related computer systems are disclosed. A handwriting verification method comprises obtaining a handwriting test sample containing a plurality of available parameters, extracting geometric parameters, deriving geometric features comprising an x-position value and a y-position value for each of a plurality of feature points in the test sample, performing feature matching between geometric features of the test sample and a reference sample, determining a handwriting verification result based at least in part on the feature matching, and outputting the handwriting verification result. Techniques and tools for generating and preserving electronic handwriting data also are disclosed. Raw handwriting data is converted to a streamed format that preserves the original content of the raw handwriting data.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2019Date of Patent: November 24, 2020Assignee: Wacom Co., Ltd.Inventors: Martin Holden, Nicholas Mettyear

Patent number: 10839382Abstract: A transport layer security (TLS) connection is established between a signature device and the host computer via an interface (e.g., a universal serial bus (USB) interface). The signature device acts as a TLS server, and the host computer acts as a TLS client. Data such as pen data, control data, or image data may be received or transmitted via a USB bulk transfer mechanism. In one aspect, the host computer sends a command via the interface to the signature device to generate a new key pair, receives a certificate signing request (CSR) from the signature device via the interface, sends the CSR to a user certificate authority, receives a public key certificate from the user certificate authority, and sends the public key certificate to the signature device via the interface.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2017Date of Patent: November 17, 2020Assignee: Wacom Co., Ltd.Inventor: Martin Holden
