  • Patent number: 7225074
Abstract: An engine control system comprises a first control device which is associated with a first section of the cylinders, and a second control device which is associated with a second section of the cylinders. The first control device is designed in order to determine an intermediate required value (TQI_INT_SP_FAST) for a torque to be set quickly which is set by way of one or more final control elements for setting a quantity of fuel that is to be metered or an ignition angle. The intermediate required value (TQI_INT_SP_FAST) is determined depending on at least one operating variable of the internal combustion engine. The first control device is also designed in order to determine at least one correction value for the torque to be set quickly [lacuna] at least one operating variable. The first control device has a communications interface for communicating the intermediate required value (TQI_INT_SP_FAST) and the at least one correction value to a communications interface of the second control device.

  • Patent number: 7209824
Abstract: A method for regulating an internal combustion engine where engine measurement and engine adjustment values is provided, and adaptation values modify the engine parameters, comprising measuring a first engine measurement parameter representative of a first physical engine parameter, measuring a second engine measurement parameter representative of a second physical engine parameter, calculating a first estimation parameter via a first engine parameter, calculating a second estimation parameter via a second engine parameter, determining a first operating mode of the engine regulation method, the first operating mode determined by generating a first adaptation value based on the first engine parameter, generating a second adaptation value based on the second measurement parameter, and comparing the percent difference of the first and second adaptation values to a neutral value of the respective engine parameter, and determining a second operating mode of the engine regulation method.

  • Patent number: 7174880
Abstract: An internal combustion engine has an air intake tract which comprises at least one inlet pipe leading to one intake duct per cylinder of the internal combustion engine. It also has at least one exhaust gas duct per cylinder of the internal combustion engine, at least a first actuator which is disposed in an inlet pipe or in an intake duct or in an exhaust gas duct and influences the gas exchange in the respective cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6507918
Abstract: In a method for implementation of a fault diagnostic system having a number of diagnostic modules and in an in-vehicle fault diagnostic system, a second diagnostic module whose diagnostic result depends on the result of the fault diagnosis of at least one first diagnostic module begins its diagnostic cycle without waiting for the diagnostic result of the first diagnostic module. The second diagnostic module writes its diagnostic result into a secondary fault memory. When the first diagnostic module has ended its diagnostic cycle without finding a fault, the diagnostic result of the second diagnostic module is transferred from the secondary fault memory into a primary fault memory.
