  • Patent number: 5755201
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and an arrangement for controlling the power of an internal combustion engine. In the method and arrangement, the power-adjusting element for adjusting the supply of air to the engine is adjusted in the context of a load control loop. When the load detection becomes disabled, measures are taken for ensuring operational reliability and an emergency method for adjusting the throttle flap is described in the fault situation.

  • Patent number: 5654888
Abstract: A control arrangement for vehicles is suggested which includes at least two computer elements for carrying out at least the same control function. Measures for checking the operability of the control arrangement are provided. The execution of these measures is allocated to the at least two computer elements in such a manner that each computer element carries out at least one of the monitoring measures. This monitoring measure is not carried out by the other computing element.

  • Patent number: 5623905
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and an arrangement for controlling an internal combustion engine. An electronic adjustment of a power adjusting unit for influencing the supply of air is provided. The adjustment of this power adjusting unit as well as a value representing the load of the engine are detected. For monitoring purposes, the variable representing the load and the adjustment value of the power adjusting unit are compared to each other. The maximum position of the power adjusting unit is limited in dependence upon the load and/or the engine rpm in such a manner that the range of high loads is not reached.

  • Patent number: 5235950
Abstract: A system is suggested for the electronic open-loop control and/or closed-loop control of the power of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle in which the open-loop control or closed-loop control of the power is dependent on a parameter which represents the driver's wish, the open-loop control or closed-loop control being carried out in pregiven operating conditions independently of this parameter and occurring in these operating conditions, which are characterized by a reduction or an increase of the fuel supply due to an active drive slip control or engine drag torque control. For a faster response of the control system, the preset values which support the reduction or increase requirement, are dynamically amplified in their effect.

  • Patent number: 5233958
Abstract: The invention is directed to an arrangement for the open-loop and/or closed-loop control of an operating variable of an internal combustion engine. The arrangement includes an electronic open-loop and closed-loop control unit which is influenced with an actuable positioning component operating on the operating value in dependence upon at least one operating variable. This arrangement includes at least one safety means which changes its signal condition in predetermined positions of the actuator. Devices are included for precisely determining and detecting the position of the signal condition change. These devices control the actuator in predetermined operating conditions independently of the operating variable.
