  • Patent number: 5376036
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a pull paddle for swim training which includes a paddle having a leading edge and a trailing edge and a longitudinal centerline extending from the leading edge to the trailing edge. The paddle is tapered so that the leading edge is substantially narrower than the trailing edge. The paddle has a relief in the trailing edge defining a wrist detent. The paddle has a center of force no more than 11/2" from the wrist detent along the longitudinal center line and includes structure for selectively gripping the paddle.

  • Patent number: 5300003
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an device for use with exercising equipment defining a handle device. The handle device includes a support cross member for the user's wrist and a handle member for the user's grip. The handle device has a pair of shoulders at either end of the support cross member. The shoulders are upraised from the support cross member have openings to accommodate a pair of threaded rods having knurled knobs attached thereto and positioned in one of the openings. The threaded rods screw into threaded openings in the handle member and the ends of the rods are affixed thereto. Along each of the rods and between the shoulder and the handle member is a locking member. Depending upon preference and physical dimension and which hand is being used, a user can use the combination of the threaded rods, knurled knobs and locking members to adjust the spaced apart distance of the handle and support cross members as well as the angle therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4978119
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an exercising device for simulating athletic movements. The device includes a frame, having an upper end and a lower end and the lower end having a base. A pulley assembly is rotatably connected to the frame. The pulley assembly includes a pulley and a spool having two stages. The first stage of the spool is positioned closest to the pulley and has a gradually increasing outside diameter as the distance from the pulley increases defining an incline for self-tending. The second stage defines a step function decrease in the mechanical advantage of the pulley assembly, and also includes an increading outside diameter as the distance from the pulley increases, also for self-tending. The exercising device further includes a pull/resistance structure for rotating the pulley and spool together connected to the frame.
