  • Patent number: 4550829
Abstract: A spring clip for a push broom is disclosed to hold the broom handle and the brush head in longitudinal side-by-side relationship during shipping and vending. The clip is formed of a unitary length of wire and includes a looped web and a pair of legs depending from the web. The legs terminate downwardly in inwardly bent feet of size to underfit the brush head base and to releasably secure the clip to the base. In one configuration, the loop is sized to frictionally engage the handle body. In another configuration, the loop is sized to threadably engage the broom handle threads. The handle can then be releasably secured to the brush head by employing two clips, either both of the first configuration, or one each of the first and second configurations.

  • Patent number: 4524938
Abstract: A self contained broom hanging system is disclosed which includes a broom having a hollow hanger housing formed in the broom shroud. A separable hanger is removeably retained within the hanger housing for storage within the housing in a releasable manner during shipping and storage and prior to vending. After sale, the hanger is removed from association within the hanger housing and is affixed to a wall surface in a desired location. The hanger includes an integral projection of size and position to engage a V-shaped notched portion of the hanger housing for convenient broom hanging purposes.

  • Patent number: 4216562
Abstract: A sponge mop refill comprises a cellular foam body to which is affixed a thin, stiff, hard, planar backing strip. The backing strip is centrally cut out to provide needed flexibility as the refill is medially bent during the water extracting procedure. A pair of spaced, plastic, accordion rivets have their heads interposed between a surface of the foam body and a surface of the backing strip and are installed with the rivet shank extending outwardly through the backing member to facilitate easy application to and removal from a sponge mop.

  • Patent number: 4164800
Abstract: A combination mop and wringer comprising a handle and a replaceable strand type mop positioned at one end of the handle. A slide arm reciprocates relative to the handle from an initial position to a wringing position to push a pivotal, split ring member over the strand mop to wring out excess water. The slide arm reciprocates through a guide block having a configured opening to prevent twisting of the slide arm during movement. Reciprocation of the slide arm returns the split ring member to its initial position ahead of the strand mop. The split ring includes a pivotal connection to the slide arm and a flapper type closure to automatically complete the ring configuration prior to each mop wringing cycle. The slide arm may be provided with a locking detent suitable to releasably engage the guide block to retain the slide arm in its initial position.
