  • Patent number: 9487709
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of reducing emissions of byproduct gas when charging oven chambers of a battery of coking ovens, on the proviso that the oven chamber (1) to be charged is opened on the machine side (MS) of the battery of coking ovens, and a block of compressed coal (10) is introduced into the opened oven chamber (1). Byproduct gases released during introduction of the block of compressed coal (10) into the hot oven chamber (1), are discharged through a byproduct-gas manifold (11) attached to the oven chamber (1) and are then preferably freed of dust and incinerated. Crude gases formed in the closed oven chambers during coking are discharged through a crude-gas manifold (3) attached to the oven chambers (1) and are passed on for treatment by at least one gas scrubber.

  • Patent number: 5705037
Abstract: In order to reduce the concentration of CO in the waste gas of coke oven batteries that are heated by lean gas, additional sealing is used for the brick-work of die regenerator separating walls of the coke oven battery, as well as a coke oven battery with a regenerator having brick-built separating walls, between ducts that carry lean gas and waste gas, in which one has arranged stainless steel sheets in front of the regenerator separating wall with, preferably, an intermediate layer that is located behind it that comprises ceramic fibers. In this regard, the stainless steel sheets, that overlap with one another in each case, are preferably held by rod-shaped tensioning device.

  • Patent number: 5597452
Abstract: Renovation of a heating wall, in particular a heating wall of a coke oven battery, includes starting with a vertical wall raising of a part to be renovated on a wall protective plate of the part, abutting a new masonry exactly on the wall protection plate, and arranging between the new masonry and the old masonry a vertically extending welding joint from a ceramic material.

  • Patent number: 5510013
Abstract: A layer system for electrochemical probes has a ceramic substrate, electrodes applied on the ceramic substrate, a sensor layer arranged over the electrodes, and a structure for improving adherence of the sensor layer to the substrate and including at least one adherence improving layer portion which is located under and extends upwardly into the sensor layer and also is sintered with the substrate.

  • Patent number: 5443694
Abstract: Renovation of a heating wall, in particular a heating wall head of a coke oven battery, includes starting with reconstruction of the wall to be renovated on a wall protective plate of the part, abutting a new masonry exactly on the wall protective plate, and arranging between the new masonry and the old masonry a vertically extending welding joint for sealing the ceramic welding after heating up the new masonry, which means after reaching final thermal expansion of the new masonry.

  • Patent number: 4743342
Abstract: A coke quenching car comprises an open coke receptacle having a sloping bottom wall inclined toward one side, closely spaced vertical internal walls, a vertical side wall opposite the one side and end walls. All of the walls are formed with cooling fluid passages. The vertical side wall includes a coke discharge opening closed by a swingable L-shaped flap having a leg portion with a cooling fluid passage and a foot portion underhanging the bottom wall in a closed position. The foot portion is provided with aperatures for draining quench water from the receptacle when the flap is swung into a drain position. A fluid cooled slidable cover for the receptacle is provided.
