  • Patent number: 10396911
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating a probability density function eye are provided. The method preferably includes the steps of acquiring an input waveform, performing a clock data recovery in accordance with the input waveform to determine one or more expected transition times and defining a plurality of unit intervals of the input waveform in accordance with the one or more expected transition times. One or more values of one or more data points may then be determined in accordance with the input waveform in accordance with the one or more expected transition times, and a category for each unit interval in accordance with its state and its position within the input waveform may also be determined. One or more histograms may then be generated for the determined one or more values for each category of unit intervals.

  • Patent number: 6311138
Abstract: A method for presenting information and a digital storage oscilloscope are disclosed in which primary measurements of a signal are performed and displayed. Parameters are also derived for the signal based upon the primary measurement data. These derived parameters are then also displayed as a function of time on the display, preferably with a common time axis. This enables the oscilloscope operator to correlate features found by reference to the derived parameters directly to the primary measurements of the signal. Moreover, since the data from the primary measurements are stored in the oscilloscope, multi parameter calculation and parameter recalculation can be performed.

  • Patent number: 6151010
Abstract: A digital oscilloscope in which the acquisition/data accumulation is decoupled from the display of the accumulated data in order to increase the speed at which new data may be accumulated and displayed. The invention also provides for variable persistence in the accumulated data so that the displayed image shows the changes in the sampled event over time. The decay, however, is proportional to population for each amplitude/time combination in the data. This maintains the statistical integrity of the data. Further, the data from each channel is assigned a different color and different populations within the channel's data is assigned a different shade of the color. These shades are dynamically updated as data from new acquisitions are accumulated. In order to highlight the population distributions in the rare events, population saturation levels may be specified.
