  • Publication number: 20150330081
Abstract: A sheet material with an anti-skid surface, suitable for use as a roofing underlayment or wrapper, comprises a scrim made of woven plastic tapes with monofilaments that are round in cross-section and have a diameter larger than the thickness of the plastic tapes interwoven with the tapes. The monofilaments form ridges on the sheet material that impart an enhanced coefficient of friction to it. The monofilaments may be incorporated in the weave in the warp or weft directions or both.

  • Publication number: 20150093551
Abstract: A sheet of roofing underlayment comprises a base layer, a water-impermeable coating layer laminated to one side of the base layer, and a plurality of spaced-apart sealant areas between the coating layer and the base layer, comprising a sealant adapted to form a seal around a fastener penetrating the sheet. The sealant area may be continuous or intermittent strips. The sealant forms a water-tight seal around the fasteners used to attach the roofing underlayment to a roof deck.

  • Publication number: 20140134408
Abstract: A method and apparatus for making a water drainage-promoting wrap for applications such as housewrap and roofing underlayment. A substrate, which may be breathable or non-breathable, is conveyed through a nip between a rotating sleeve and a roll, the sleeve having a plurality of apertures therein. A fluid resin composition is fed into the sleeve and is fed out through the apertures in the sleeve as it rotates and as the substrate moves through the nip, forming spaced-apart spacer elements on a face of the substrate. The spacer elements are then dried or cured.

  • Patent number: 7838445
Abstract: A multi-layered sheet material for wrapping metal goods to protect them from corrosion during storage has a water impermeable and water vapor-impermeable outer layer comprising a coated woven scrim and a water-impermeable and water vapor permeable inner layer comprising a micro-perforated film. The inner layer incorporates corrosion inhibitors. The outer and inner layers are bonded along their longitudinal edges leaving a space between the layers into which water vapor can migrate away from the wrapped metal product.

  • Publication number: 20100247872
Abstract: A sheet of material suitable for roofing or industrial wrapping applications has an anti-skid surface formed by ridges of twisted tapes. The sheet comprises a woven scrim of warp tapes and weft tapes. Some of the tapes are twisted about their longitudinal axis, for example about 25 to 400 revolutions per meter, to form ridges having a height substantially greater than the thickness of the tapes. The ridges impart an anti-skid surface to the sheet. The scrim is bonded to a coating or film to make the sheet waterproof.

  • Publication number: 20080299368
Abstract: A multi-layered packaging material for metal with improved anti-corrosion properties is made from polyolefins, preferably polyethylene. The material has a high tensile strength middle layer comprising a woven scrim, preferably made of high-density polyethylene tapes with decitex from 500 to 2500 grams per 10,000 meters. The woven layer is laminated on the outer side to a layer of low-density polyethylene. The outer layer has a very low moisture and vapor transmission rate and is almost impermeable. It protects the wrapped good from damaging elements in the atmosphere, including vapors and moisture. The middle layer is laminated on the inside to a polymer sheet, preferably low-density polyethylene, impregnated with a blend of corrosion inhibitors. The corrosion inhibitor blend comprises both volatile and contact corrosion inhibitors.

  • Publication number: 20070093156
Abstract: A sheet of coated scrim in which the scrim is seamless and the sheet has a width greater than that available using conventional manufacturing methods. A tubular scrim is flattened, coated on a first side, then coated on a second side, with a part of the coatings overhanging on one edge of the scrim. The flattened and coated tube is then slit along the opposite edge and the sheet is opened. The coating overhangs form a ridge along one side of the sheet and the ridge contains no scrim.

  • Publication number: 20040192130
Abstract: A sheet material for use as a wrapping material has surface areas with a high coefficient of friction to provide anti-slip properties to the wrapper. The sheet comprises a woven or non-woven scrim with a polymer resin coating on one side and particles protruding from the coating to provide the anti-slip properties. The particles may be polymer resin affixed to the coating by a melt bond or they may be organic or inorganic particles partly embedded in the coating. The sheet material may include additional coatings of resin and paper on the side of the scrim opposite to the particles. The sheet material is made by a method which includes depositing the particles on the resin coating while it is still in a molten state and feeding the coated scrim with particles through a nip between two rollers.
