Abstract: Described are compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, and aryl, R.sup.3 is hydrogen or halogen, and R.sup.4 is hydrogen or acyl, and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. R.sup.3 can be located in the 4 or 5 position as can the amino imidazoline group. The compounds are useful as anti-inflammatory agents.

Abstract: This invention provides aminomethylene oxindole compounds represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R is H or loweralkyl; R' is loweralkyl, aralkyl, or R and R' taken together form a chain of the formula--CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 XCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --wherein X is CH.sub.2 or NR" where R" is loweralkyl, loweralkanoyl, aroyl, alkoxycarbonyl or aryl; and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof.The compounds of this invention are useful as antihypertensive agents.

Abstract: Described are antihypertensive agents selected from the class consisting of 2[4(tetrahydro-2-furoyl)-piperazino]-4-amino-6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline and 2-[4(tetrahydropyran-2-carbonyl)-piperazinyl]-4-amino-6,7-dimethoxyquinazo line, and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. The compounds are highly water soluble and can be administered in time release form as well as parenterally, including intravenously.

Abstract: Disclosed are compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein n is 2 or 3, R is hydrogen or methyl, R' is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, acyl, aryl, aroyl, alkoxycarbonyl, tetrahydrofuroyl, dialkylaminocarbonyl, or furoyl, and R" is hydrogen and methoxy. These compounds are useful as antihypertensive agents.

Abstract: Described are the compounds 5,6-dimethoxy-2-(4-benzyl-1-piperidino) benzimidazole and 5,6-dimethoxy-2 (6,7-dimethoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro 2-isoquinolinyl benzimidazole and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. The compounds are useful as antihypertensive agents.

Abstract: Heterocyclic esters of alkylphenyl benzopyranopyridines represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, loweralkyl, loweralkanoyl, cycloalkylloweralkyl, cycloalkylloweralkanoyl, loweralkenyl, loweralkynyl, haloloweralkenyl, phenylloweralkyl, phenylloweralkenyl or phenylloweralkynyl; R.sub.2 is loweralkyl; R.sub.3 is ##STR2## WHEREIN X is a straight or branched chain alkylene group having from one to eight carbon atoms, a is an integer from 1 to 4, b is an integer from 1 to 4 and Z is CH.sub.2, O, S or NR.sub.7, with R.sub.7 being hydrogen or loweralkyl, with the limitation that when X is O, S or NR.sub.7, the sum of a and b is 3 or 4; and R.sub.8 is hydrogen or loweralkyl; Y is a straight or branched chain alkylene group having from one to ten carbon atoms; and each R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are the same or different members of the group consisting of hydrogen, halo, trifluoromethyl or loweralkyl; and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof.

Abstract: Described are the compounds 2[4(tetrahydro-2-furoyl)-hexahydro-1,4-diazepinyl-1]-4-amino-6,7-dimethoxy quinazoline and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. The compounds are useful as antihypertensive agents.

Abstract: A new series of 8-aralkyl-1,4-ethano-5H-[1]benzopyrano[3,4-b]pyridines having anti-convulsant activity, and compounds useful in the preparation thereof. The compounds are represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein each R.sub.1 is loweralkyl; R.sub.2 is hydrogen, loweralkyl, loweracyl and substituted acyl; Y is a straight or branched chain alkylene group having from one to ten carbon atoms and each R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are the same or different members of the group consisting of hydrogen, halo, trifluoromethyl, or loweralkyl; and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

Abstract: 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydrocyclopenta[c] [1]benzopyrans of the formulae ##SPC1##Wherein R is a lower alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbons, R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbons, R.sub.2 is a lower alkyl group and R.sub.3 is an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a phenyl-lower alkyl group or a cycloalkyl-lower alkyl group. The compounds have anti-hypertensive, antidepressant, analgesic, anticonvulsant, anti-anxiety and tranquilizing activity in animals.

Abstract: 1,2-Dihydro-4H-thieno-[2,3-c][1]benzopyrans of the formulae ##SPC1##Wherein R is a lower alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbons, R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbons, R.sub.2 is a lower alkyl group and R.sub.3 is an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a phenyl-lower alkyl group or a cycloalkyl-lower alkyl group.
