  • Patent number: 4722941
Abstract: A readily absorbable pharmaceutical composition of pharmacologically active agents, which per se are poorly absorbable, is disclosed which comprises a pharmacologically effective amount of at least one such pharmacologically active agent distributed in a vehicle comprising an absorption-enhancing amount of at least one fatty acid of medium chain length. The preparation is suited for formulating pharmacologically active bases, cardiac glycosides, steroids, antibiotics, sympathicomimetica, tranquilizing agents, or local anaesthetics.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4519320
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for firing waste sludge in a coal-gasifying process by means of two separate dust fireboxes connected respectively to a fume gas drier and to a heat energy generator in the form of a steam boiler. To prevent caking of the ashes, fume gases in the second firebox are cooled down by the admixture of waste gases fed back from the heat energy generator. In this manner, the amount of the exhausted waste gas is reduced and steam production is increased.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 27, 1982
Date of Patent: May 28, 1985
    Assignee: Deutsche Babcock Anlagen Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventor: Martin Wischniewski
  • Patent number: 4313930
Abstract: Stable valepotriate compositions are produced by a process wherein impurities are removed from the pharmaceutically active extract of the valerianacea fruits, followed by a mixing with pharmaceutically acceptable sheathing materials and the formation of microspheres therefrom.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 31, 1979
Date of Patent: February 2, 1982
    Assignee: Kali-Chemie Pharma GmbH
Inventors: Martin Wischniewski, Lutz Feicho, Werner Althaus
  • Patent number: 4280971
Abstract: Pancreatin pellets are produced by a process employing extrusion techniques. In the process, a mixture of pancreatin powder and selected solvent is formed into a pliable mass suitable for extrusion. The extrusion is conducted followed by a cutting, shaping or forming of the extruded mass into pre-pellet like forms. Further drying and mechanical working of the pre-pellet forms results in the final pancreatin pellet of improved pharmaceutical and mechanical stability. A special aspect of the process is the selection of a solvent for mixing with pancreatin powder that is harmless to enzymes. Such solvents typically include isopropanol and acetone.

  • Patent number: 4263313
Abstract: A carrier composition for cutaneously absorbable topical pharmaceutical formulations of pharmacologically active agents is disclosed which comprises at least one partial glyceride of a fatty acid of medium chain length. This vehicle enhances the permeation of the topical formulation through the skin. A topical formulation which comprises this permeation enhancing vehicle is suitable for cutaneously applying pharmacologically active agents which are locally and/or systematically effective in the body.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 22, 1978
Date of Patent: April 21, 1981
    Assignee: Kali-Chemie Pharma GmbH
Inventors: Theodor Eckert, Fritz H. Kemper, Martin Wischniewski, Reinhard Hempel
  • Patent number: 4202888
Abstract: A readily enterally absorbable pharmaceutical composition of cardiac glycosides is disclosed which comprises a therapeutically-effective amount of at least one cardiac glycoside distributed in a vehicle comprising an absorption-enhancing amount of at least one partial glyceride of a fatty acid of medium chain length. The preparation is suited for formulating cardiac glycosides which per se are poorly enterally absorbable, in particular, k-strophanthin, g-strophanthin, and proscillaridin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 7, 1977
Date of Patent: May 13, 1980
    Assignee: Kali-Chemie Pharma GmbH.

  • Patent number: 4082498
Abstract: Wet particulate coal and a current of hot dry gas at superatmospheric pressure are introduced into a substantially closed drying chamber to contact the material with the gas while maintaining the drying chamber under superatmospheric pressure so that the material is dried by the gas. The dried material is withdrawn from the drying chamber and the gas is withdrawn from the drying chamber and itself mixed with a stream of hot dry gas produced by burning a combustible and a combustion-supporting gas. This mixture is then reintroduced into the drying chamber as the current of hot gas used to dry the coal. The burner is operated at superatmospheric pressure and is formed of a jet-pump type injector, and a diffusor is provided downstream of this injector in the circulation path.

  • Patent number: 4053364
Abstract: In a coking installation moist coal to be converted into coke is dried and preheated by being contacted by a hot drying gas. The hot coke which is formed is subjected to a dry quenching in which at least a portion of the heat lost by the hot coke during the drying quenching thereof is imparted to the drying gas. There is provided a closed flow circuit for the continual recirculation of a body of drying gas. The closed flow circuit includes a portion in which the drying gas comes into contact with moist coal which is to be dried and preheated. When the drying gas comes into contact with the moist coal water vapor becomes mixed with the drying gas. The water vapor is removed from the drying gas by means of condensation.
