  • Publication number: 20120186719
Abstract: In a device (10) which is adapted to perform an ultrasonic welding process on at least one web (8, 9) by means of an elongated welding combination (4), i.e. a combination of an elongated welding head (1) and an elongated anvil element, the welding combination (4) is movably arranged, and means (12) for realizing a displacement of the welding combination (4) are provided. The welding combination (4) may be displaceable in a direction (C) which is perpendicular to a direction (W) of conveyance of the web (8, 9) through the device (10). During the displacement process, the displacements of both the welding head (1) and the anvil element are accurately controlled, so that the mutual positioning of these components of the welding combination (4) is maintained. Due to the displaceable arrangement of the welding combination (4), there is no limit to a width of webs (8, 9) to be treated.

  • Patent number: 7954810
Abstract: A device for manufacturing a crosslaid fiber web including a first conveyor belt and a second conveyor belt, which are oriented in two different directions, wherein the second conveyor belt adjoins a side of the first conveyor belt. During operation of the device, the first conveyor belt transports longitudinal fiber web segments, which are conveyed to the second conveyor belt in a conveyance region. During transportation by the first conveyor belt, a conveyance area of the longitudinal fiber web segments projects with respect to the side of the first conveyor belt. The device comprises a guiding belt for supporting a portion of this conveyance area, in order to guarantee that, in the conveyance region, the longitudinal fiber web segments may be conveyed to the second conveyor belt in a completely outstretched fashion.

  • Patent number: 7927444
Abstract: A method is described for forming a longitudinal fibre web (100), wherein synthetic tapes (2) with an elongated cross-sectional contour are positioned substantially parallel to each other for forming a bundle (12), wherein the tapes (2) are embedded in a matrix material (46). The tapes (2) are positioned partially overlapping each other.

  • Patent number: 7832446
Abstract: A device for manufacturing a crosslaid fiber web on the basis of two parallel longitudinal fiber webs and segments of another longitudinal fiber web comprises a fixing table on which the longitudinal fiber webs and the segments come together. Furthermore, the device comprises a pair of high-voltage bars, movably arranged with respect to the fixing table. When a segment is in a correct end position with respect to the longitudinal fiber webs on the fixing table, the pair of high-voltage bars is activated and moved with respect to the segment and the longitudinal fiber webs, wherein the segment and the longitudinal fiber webs are situated between the high-voltage bars. As a consequence, the segment is fixed with respect to the longitudinal fiber webs, before being supplied to another device in order to get definitively connected to the longitudinal fiber webs.

  • Patent number: 6986821
Abstract: The invention describes a method and a device (101) for producing a longitudinal fiber web (100), in which fibers (2) are continuously applied, in the longitudinal direction, to a substrate web (6). In a pretreatment section, a relatively high tensile force (F) has to be exerted on the fibers, resulting in a relatively great strain (?). Before the fibers (2) are applied to the substrate web (6), the stress in the fibers is reduced. The drive for the fibers in the pretreatment section is separate from the drive for the substrate web, the transport velocity of the fibers in the pretreatment section being controlled separately as a function of the transport velocity of the substrate web, in such a manner that the transport velocity of the fibers in the relaxed state is substantially equal to the transport velocity of the substrate web in the relaxed state.
