  • Publication number: 20190323352
Abstract: Tip surfaces of aerofoils of a bladed disk are repaired by an additive layer manufacturing process in which a laser beam is directed at the tip surface to create an interaction zone while metallic powder is delivered from powder delivery nozzles onto a locus of delivery of larger area than the interaction zone. The bladed disk and the powder delivery nozzles are situated within a controlled environment enclosure, while a laser generating the laser beam is situated outside the enclosure. The laser interaction zone trajectory is controllable independently of the movement of the powder delivery nozzles and so can execute rapid accelerations and decelerations, and changes of direction, enabling complex space filling scanning patterns to be performed on the tip surface.

  • Patent number: 10328471
Abstract: A rolling mill edger includes a pair of work rolls (1, 2) and a feed roll assembly. The assembly includes one or more driven feed rolls (23) and a drive for the feed rolls. The feed roll assembly is mounted on a moveable (25) mount such that the feed roll assembly is movable by pivoting the assembly between an operative rolling position (54) in the edger and a roll change position (55) out of the edger.

  • Patent number: 10122228
Abstract: A sleeve for retaining magnets around a rotor of an electrical machine. The sleeve is cylindrical and hollow, having axial length and having radial thickness between its inner surface and outer surface. The sleeve defines a plurality of axially spaced, circumferentially extending grooves. Each groove has radial depth which is less than the radial thickness of the sleeve.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 9016100
Abstract: A fully hydraulic edging system suitable for use in wide plate mills is disclosed. The need for electro-mechanical screws to effect large movements of the side rollers is avoided by employing a pull-back hydraulic cylinder for this purpose. The main hydraulic cylinders are switched to a non-operational mode during large movements thus avoiding the need for large volumes of hydraulic fluid to be transferred under high pressure.
