  • Patent number: 4560034
Abstract: An annular multi-piston brake apparatus (8) for selective holding engagement against a rotatable element (34). The annular multi-piston brake apparatus (8) advantageously includes first and second brake pistons (40,46) radially overlapping to allow the pistons to individually contact the rotatable element and stop rotation. Compact packaging of the brake apparatus is featured.

  • Patent number: 4470640
Abstract: A control system (10) for a spring applied, pressure released brake (16) is provided to control the pressure level in the brake (16) in response to operation of a control valve (22) to stage the pressure levels relative to the operating mode of the control valve. The control system (10) also provides two different fluid pathways (58,60) that are individually operational to lubricate a winch and draw-works mechanism (18) in response to the operating position of the control valve (22). This system improves the response time needed to gradually release the brake (18).

  • Patent number: 4458791
Abstract: This invention relates to a brake control system (10) for controlling engagement and disengagement of a spring applied pressure released brake (11) of a winch and includes an orifice (39) and a relief valve (37) connected in series to the outlet port of a metering pump (23) to relieve pressure in the outlet port at a lower than normal pressure level when the fluid flow therethrough is below a predetermined flow rate. Relieving the pressure at the outlet port of the metering pump reduces the pressure differential between the inlet port (24) and outlet port (26) of the metering pump and thereby drastically reduces the internal leakage within the metering pump so that the metering pump is operative to pump fluid from the actuating chamber (14) at the slow rotational speeds of the rotatable member (12).

  • Patent number: 4301713
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for supplying pressurized fluid to various controlled members (16,30,34). A problem with prior apparatus is the need for a plurality of separate apparatuses to supply the controlled members. The invention solves this problem through the use of a single valve (25) that controls the supply of pressurized fluid from a fluid source to first (34), second (16) and third (30) controlled members, in which the single valve (25) has a first relief valve segment (46) to relieve the pressure of fluid flowing from the source to the first controlled member (34), a second relief valve segment (100) to relieve the pressure of fluid relieved by the first relief valve segment (46), and a third valve segment (138) to direct the fluid relieved by the first relief valve segment (46) to the second (16) and third (30) controlled members. A movable lever (26) is connected to the third valve segment (138) to shift this valve segment (138) and control the direction of the fluid.

  • Patent number: 4088043
Abstract: A multi-speed transmission for an engine driven agricultural or construction vehicle is comprised of an epicyclic torque-splitting gear arrangement driven by an input assembly. The input assembly, driven by the engine through a drive engagement means, includes a reversing planetary gear arrangement. The epicyclic torque-splitting gear arrangement includes an input member driven by the input assembly, an output member and a reaction member. The reaction member of the epicyclic torque-splitting gear arrangement is drivingly interconnected with a speed reduction means. The speed reduction means is also driven by the input assembly, and is selectively controllable for rotating the reaction member of the epicyclic torque-splitting gear arrangement in one or the other directions relative to the direction of rotation of the input assembly. The speed reduction means is further controllable to stop rotation of the reaction member relative to rotation of the input assembly.
