  • Patent number: 4595882
Abstract: There is disclosed a phase adjusted feedforward error correction system with improved linearity and bandwidth for use in high frequency systems. The feedforward system includes phase and amplitude equalizer circuits which cause a main amplifier output signal to be equal in amplitude and phase with the input signal and a second phase and amplitude equalizer circuit which causes the distortion products generated by the main amplifier to be equal in amplitude and phase with the distortion products from the main amplifier output before subtracting the distortion products from the main amplifier output signal. The phase and amplitude equalizer circuits simplify the construction of the feedforward circuit while maintaining inherent stability over the bandwidth and frequency of operation.

  • Patent number: 4547746
Abstract: There is disclosed a power amplifier which is useful in broadband systems having load impedances with VSWRs up to a range of 2:1 or 2.5:1. The power amplifier is constructed to change its operating conditions to match the load as presented at the output of the amplifier and is particularly useful in systems employing frequency hopping requiring broadband construction. A feedback signal from the output of the amplifier is constructed to provide a signal representing the difference between forward and reflected power which is compared in a multiplier with a signal representing current flow in the power amplifier to produce a control voltage for adjusting the supply voltage of transistors forming the power amplifier. Thereafter, if the load impedance changes, the supply voltage is also changed to minimize dissipation and maintain the efficiency of the amplifier substantially constant.

  • Patent number: 4331928
Abstract: A feedback network for a linear amplifier provides for sampling the input signal and removing the modulation from the input signal while maintaining a 180.degree. phase relationship with the input which is essentially the process of converting it into a square wave. The output signal is also sampled and the envelope separated from the sampled output signal and used to drive a modulator which modulates the square wave. This modulated square wave is then mixed with the input signal prior to amplification. In addition, automatic gain control is provided by a level comparator that compares the output signal with the input signal and the results of the comparison is used to attenuate or to control the level of the modulated square wave.
