  • Patent number: 4930910
Abstract: A bearing arrangement including a plain bearing consisting of a laminated body of a bearing layer and a backing metal supporting the bearing layer. The backing metal is made of a material whose modulus of elasticity is lowered by cold working (austenitic stainless steel), and the bearing layer and the backing metal are joined to each other by cold rolling. Since a working proportion of the backing metal upon the above-mentioned cold rolling is small in the inside portion held in contact with the bearing layer but is large in the outside portion, the modulus of elasticity of the backing metal is different between the inside portion and the outside portion thereof, and the modulus of elasticity in the outside portion is smaller than the modulus of elasticity in the inside portion. Also, the hardness of the outside portion is higher than the hardness of the inside portion.

  • Patent number: 4885622
Abstract: A PIN photodiode is composed of a lower electrode deposited on a substrate, a photoelectric transducer of PIN construction deposited on the lower electrode, and an upper electrode deposited on the photoelectric transducer. A method of fabricating the PIN photodiode is also disclosed. All of electron-and-hole pairs generated in the photoelectric transducer in response to application of light are biased by the lower and upper electrodes. These electron-and-hole pairs are quickly picked up as a current between the electrodes for detecting the light falling on the PIN photodiode.

  • Patent number: 4863340
Abstract: An automatic loading system includes an automatic loading apparatus for automatically loading, onto a pallet, a glass sheet product as it lies substantially horizontally and is delivered along a feed path to a terminal position of the feed path. The automatic loading apparatus has a suction mechanism for attracting the lower surface of the glass sheet product at the terminal position and for moving the glass sheet product to a loading position to load the glass sheet product onto the pallet. The automatic loading system also includes an apparatus for putting an interleaving sheet on an upper surface of the glass sheet product in the feed path. The interleaving sheet putting apparatus comprises a mechanism for moving an uppermost interleaving sheet of a stack of interleaving sheets over the glass sheet product, and a holder mechanism for holding the uppermost interleaving sheet against an upper surface of the glass sheet product.

  • Patent number: 4811069
Abstract: A photoelectric conversion device comprises a photodiode comprising a metallic electrode formed of a metal capable of forming a Schottky junction together with amorphous silicon, such as Cr or Ni, a transparent electrode formed of ITO or the like, and an i-type hydrogenated amorphous silicon layer sandwiched in between the metallic electrode and the transparent electrode. A bias voltage is applied across the metallic electrode and the transparent electrode so that the metallic electrode is biased to a negative potential relative to the transparent electrode. A Schottky barrier formed in the interface between the metallic electrode and the i-type hydrogenated amorphous silicon layer is used as an electron blocking layer. Thus, the dark current is suppressed on a low level and the photoelectric conversion device is able to operate at a high S/N ratio.

  • Patent number: 4672219
Abstract: An image reader is adapted to read an image represented on a document. The image reader comprises a reading unit, an LEDs driving circuit, and means for moving the reading unit and the document relatively. The above reading unit comprises an LEDs array arranged in a straight line as light sources, a rod lens array for guiding the light emitted from each LED of the LEDs array and focusing the light on the document, and a pair of photosensors being disposed in parallel and connected in parallel with respect to each other for converting a reflected light from the document to a photocurrent. And each LED of the LEDs array is turned on only one at a time sequentially by means of the LEDs driving circuit, then the reading of the document is effected by means of the photosensors.
