  • Patent number: 7668817
Abstract: A method for processing data performed in a data processing system having a storage unit is provided which includes: creating a spatial index comprising a leaf containing location information and attribute information with respect to a plurality of objects to be searched, and storing the spatial index in the storage unit; and referring to the spatial index stored in the storage unit in response to an input of a search request including location information and attribute information for searching the object to be searched, and extracting the object to be searched that agrees with the search request. With this configuration, a spatial search with subsidiary condition search can be processed at high speed, without merging results of both searches.

  • Publication number: 20080281791
Abstract: A database management program in which even in a case where a row having a value of a column A duplicated is arranged in sequential space as an initial state for speeding-up a search with a condition of the column A, even if insertion, deletion and update of a row are repeated, a time required for the search with condition of the column A is not lengthen, and rearrangement requiring a long time in a case of solving this problem using a conventional method is not required. In the database management program, when managing a single or a plurality of sets of rows having values of the column A duplicated using relational database, in a case where the row having the value of the column A duplicated is arranged in the sequential space as the initial state for speeding-up the search with the condition of the column A, only the set of rows having the value of the column A duplicated is arranged in the sequential spaces when insertion, deletion and update of a row are performed.

  • Patent number: 7392133
Abstract: A car navigation system by which a user can easily grasp a drop-in target in the course of a route. In a summary road map displayed in a two- or one-window display representation, contents of a two-dimensional road map is properly selected and simplified, roads are made linear, roads connected to an intersection are made orthogonal so that the user can easily see it, the position of a vehicle is expressed by a mark, and even the running route is expressed with a predetermined color or the like. Accordingly, the system offers the user such a display form as able to easily refer to. When the user specifies a target at which the user wants to drop in, the drop-in target is displayed at a corresponding position on the summary road map in the form of a land mark.

  • Patent number: 7278097
Abstract: For interactive operation between different enterprises or organizations, it is necessary to provide high-quality map information by not only displaying the results of retrieval from the map information servers of those organizations in a superimposed manner but also performing distributed retrieval on the basis of a relationship matched in sense between the servers. Thus, an interface is provided in which the optimum relationships between objects provided from the map servers distributed on the Internet environment and objects defined by a desired application are generated and a work of confirmation and modification by a user can easily be done. Thereby, a cost required for a complicated relating procedure indispensable to an interactive operating system is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20070213929
Abstract: In order to quickly update map data in region units without generation of contradiction to adjacent non-updated regions after the updating, under map data updating, time and date of updating of update region of a terminal is obtained with designation of a region as the update object used as a trigger, a mesh ID on the external boundary of the partial update region is obtained, and the differential updating data ID of the updated differential updating data is also obtained from the terminal. The partial updating data and differential updating data required for updating of the designated region of the terminal are selected from the information obtained above and these selected data are applied to the map data of terminal. When updating is conducted using the partial updating data and differential updating data, the time and date of updating of the relevant partial update region ID are changed and the differential updating data ID is registered to the differential management data.

  • Publication number: 20060220923
Abstract: A map display method whereby the contents of a road map displayed can be easily and clearly grasped regardless of the running conditions of a vehicle. In a summarized map displayed on a display screen 10, an area including a vehicle position 11, a destination 13 and a guide route 12 between them is displayed in simplified fashion. At a position far from the destination, as shown in FIG. 2A, a summarized map of a wide area is displayed and objects including a road 14 and a facility 15 are limited to a greater degree. With the approach of the vehicle position 11 to the destination 13, as shown in FIG. 2B, the contraction scale is decreased and a summarized map of a middle area is displayed, while at the same time increasing the objects displayed. With a further approach of the vehicle position 11 to the destination 13, as shown in FIG.

  • Publication number: 20060184317
Abstract: In each of the divided regions of the map, a redundancy of the region is estimated from the characteristics quantity such as fractal dimension of line segments of road. Then, regions with the same redundancies are combined to form a larger area so that the map is divided according to the redundancy. The areas thus formed are summarized by the summarization methods conforming to their redundancies and are combined into one map. In the map thus generated, only necessary information can be presented, with redundant information eliminated.

  • Publication number: 20060106534
Abstract: In a communication type navigation system that downloads maps, the present invention provides a map data transmission method that can reduce time before guiding is started. A map provision server searches for a traveling route connecting a starting place corresponding to current position information received from an on-vehicle terminal and a destination corresponding to destination information. The server generates guidance information for guiding the vehicle along the searched traveling route and generates a route vicinity map along the traveling route. The server generates traveling route information comprising the searched traveling route and the guidance information, and plural map information blocks into which the route vicinity map containing map information is divided along the traveling route, assigns transmission priority levels to the map information blocks, and transmits the map information blocks according to the transmission priority levels after transmitting the traveling route information.
