  • Patent number: 8189449
Abstract: A disclosed multilayer optical information medium includes three or more information layers. Address information indicating positions in each of the information layers is recorded in a helical manner. The information layers comprise at least one I to O layer in which values representing addresses in the address information increase from an inner perimeter section toward an outer perimeter section, and at least one O to I layer in which the values representing the addresses in the address information increase from the outer perimeter section toward the inner perimeter section. All of the I to O layers have substantially the same address information and all of the O to I layers have substantially the same address information. Layer specifying information specifying the information layer is attached to the address information.

  • Patent number: 7876657
Abstract: An information recording apparatus, an information recording system, a program, and a recording medium are disclosed, by which contents are legally recorded to another information recording medium. Copy-once contents stored in a first optical disk are written to the second optical disk. After this writing is completed, a laser light having power equal to recording power is irradiated to the first optical disk so that reproduction of the copy-once contents in the first optical disk is made impossible. In this way, the copy-once contents stored in the first optical disk are erased, and the contents are moved to the second optical disk without jeopardizing the “copy-once” attribute of the contents. That is, the contents can be legally moved to another information recording medium.

  • Patent number: 5646924
Abstract: An intensity of light reflected on a phase-changing type of information recording medium is changed since unrecorded and recorded portions of the recording medium have different phase states so that reflectivities of the unrecorded and recorded portions are different from each other. Such an intensity change takes place in a very short time immediately after a recording pulse is irradiated onto the phase-changing type of information recording medium. In a recording and simultaneous verifying method of the phase-changing type of information recording medium, the change in intensity of light reflected on the phase-changing type of information recording medium is detected by using this light reflected simultaneously with a recording pulse irradiated onto the phase-changing type of information recording medium. It is confirmed if the information is correctly recorded by detecting the reflected light. Thus, this information can be recorded to the information recording medium and can be simultaneously verified.
