  • Publication number: 20070202696
Abstract: After electrode pads 20 formed on a silicon substrate 1 and an electrode 21 to be connected thereto are exposed, a photoelectric conversion layer 12 is formed via a first mask 23 which covers exposed surfaces of the electrode pads 20 and the electrode 21. Then, a second electrode 13 is formed on a third electrode via a second mask 26 in which an opening is formed. This establishes a connection between the second electrode 13 and the electrode pads 20.

  • Publication number: 20070109422
Abstract: A solid-state image pickup apparatus includes a color filter including complementary color filter segments. When a shutter release bottom is pressed to its half-stroke or full-stroke position, light incident via the filter is picked up in a movie/photometry or a still picture mode, respectively. While signal charges are read out of an image sensor in accordance with the mode, the signal charges are digitized to become pixel data. In the movie/the photometry mode, despite that a plurality of pixel data are mixed together, a set of primary color pixel data are generated as if pixel signals were thinned out by mixture. In the still picture mode, all the pixels are sequentially read out and interpolated to generate primary color pixel data greater in number than photosensitive cells. The primary color data are raised in frequency to enhance the resolution of a picture.

  • Patent number: 6882364
Abstract: A solid-state imaging apparatus includes an image pick-up section in which photosensitive devices are arranged in, e.g., a honeycomb G square lattice, RB full-checker pattern due to shifted pixels. Regions void of the photosensitive devices are assumed to be virtual photosensitive devices. A signal processing section generates data for the virtual photosensitive devices by using the data of surrounding photosensitive devices while attaching importance to accurate color reproduction and horizontal and/or vertical resolution. As a result, the number of pixel data are increased in a square lattice arrangement. Therefore, high quality image signals are readily achievable with a smaller number of photosensitive devices than conventional with a conventional apparatus. Interpolation can be executed with the high quality signals to the limit of resolution with an adequate circuit scale.

  • Patent number: 6795119
Abstract: A solid-state image pickup apparatus includes a timing signal feeding section for outputting signals assigned to a preliminary pickup mode as well as signals assigned to an actual pickup mode that follows the preliminary pickup mode. In the preliminary pickup mode, signal charges read out of photodiodes are mixed and read out via a horizontal transfer path as if they were reduced in the horizontal direction, thereby increasing a substantial transfer rate. A signal processor includes a preliminary pickup processing circuit. The preliminary pickup processing circuit performs calculations with digital data derived from the mixed signal charges. As a result, the representative primary colors R (red), G (green) and B (blue) of a plurality of signal charges are produced from the mixed, reduced signals by approximation or within a preselected horizontal range. A luminance signal and chrominance signals are then produced from the above colors R, G and B.

  • Patent number: 6222986
Abstract: In a case where a frame image possessing an amount of data greater than a predetermined amount is recorded on a magnetic tape using a multiplicity of tracks, on which tracks the data has been recorded is made clear. Image data composed of 1,400,000 pixels, which is four times that of the conventional number of 350,000 pixels, is obtained. Since the image data has an amount of data that is four times that in a frame image when photography is performed using the conventional 350,000-pixel CCD, the image data is recorded in a video recording area one frame at a time on ten tracks per frame, for a total of 40 tracks. Auxiliary-area recording data representing on which tracks the recorded image data has been recorded and the manner in which the recorded image has been partitioned is recorded in an auxiliary recording area. One frame of a still picture is produced after reference is made to the auxiliary-area recording data that has been recorded in the auxiliary recording area.

  • Patent number: 6147706
Abstract: A reproduced still picture having a comparatively high picture quality is obtained irrespective of the luminance of the subject. In an interval photography mode, photography is performed one time in a plurality of fields at a relatively high shutter speed of 1/250 of a second to obtained a first video signal, and photography is performed at an ordinary shutter speed of 1/60 of a second in other fields to obtain a second video signal. These video signals are amplified at mutually different first and second amplification factors (6 dB and 18.4 dB, respectively) in conformity with the shutter speed, by an AGC. The first and second amplification factors are varied in dependence upon the illumination of the subject in such a manner that the average levels of the first and second video signals are maintained at a fixed level.
