  • Publication number: 20240071419
Abstract: A ring-shaped glass spacer is to be arranged in contact with a magnetic disk in a hard disk drive device. A film that contains at least one of tin oxide, zinc oxide, and titanium oxide is formed on each surface of a main surface, and an outer circumferential edge surface, and an inner circumferential edge surface of the glass spacer. The thickness of the film on a center portion of the outer circumferential edge surface of the glass spacer is larger than the thickness of the film on a center portion of the inner circumferential edge surface of the glass spacer.

  • Patent number: 11869538
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a ring-shaped glass spacer to be arranged in contact with a magnetic disk in a hard disk drive device includes processing for forming a film on the surface of a glass spacer main body, which is the base of the glass spacer. In the processing, the film is formed by passing the glass spacer main body through a location where the components of the film are in a spray state while an outer circumferential edge surface of the glass spacer main body is being rotated in a circumferential direction thereof.

  • Publication number: 20020196721
Abstract: An optical head is composed of a light source means (1) for generating a luminous flux (A), a polarization beam splitter (2), an object lens (11) opposed to an appropriate recording medium (12), and a power monitoring means (6) for monitoring the power of the luminous flux (A) output from the light source means (1). The power monitoring means (6) is adapted to utilize a luminous flux (B) other than a luminous flux (C) of the luminous flux (A) (the whole amount of light) in order to monitor the power of the luminous flux (A) output from the light source means (1). The luminous flux (C) is substantially used for reproducing predetermined information from the recording medium (12) or recording the predetermined information onto the recording medium (12).

  • Patent number: 6463023
Abstract: An optical head includes a light source for generating a luminous flux, a polarization beam splitter, an object lens opposed to an appropriate recording medium, and a power monitoring device for monitoring the power of the luminous flux output from the light source. The power monitoring device is adapted to utilize a peripheral portion of the luminous flux. This peripheral portion of the luminous flux is distinct from the portion of the luminous flux that is used for reproducing predetermined information from the recording medium and recording the predetermined information onto the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 5600131
Abstract: A photodetecting device for use in an optical head comprises a photodetector (20) having a body portion (21) at one surface of which a light receiving surface (21a) is provided and a plurality of lead portions (22) each extending outwardly from the other surface of the body portion (21), and, a metallic substrate (10) having a through hole (12) and a plurality of electrically conductive land portions (13) formed on a first surface of the metallic plate (10) via an insulating layer (11). The lead portions (22) of the photodetector (20) are bent toward the substrate (10). An end portion of the lead portion (22) is connected to the land portion (13). The photodetector (20) is disposed so that the light receiving surface (21a) faces the through hole (12) and a light from the optical head (H) on which a second surface of the substrate (10) is joined arrives at the light receiving surface (21a) through the through hole (12).

  • Patent number: 5050157
Abstract: A feed guide mechanism for guiding a reciprocating movable member with a guide member having tabular elastic members forming a guide surface for guiding the reciprocal movement of the movable member on one surface thereof. A piezoelectric member with alternately polarized portions are attached to an opposite surface of the guide member. The piezoelectric member undergoes a polarization so that application of an alternating current produces a standing wave to urge the movable member upward and reduce friction.

  • Patent number: 4922477
Abstract: In an optical head unit, a magnetic circuit is provided on the chassis base of a housing in such a manner that it extends parallel to a radial direction of a disk. A head base is provided over the magnetic circuit in such a manner that it can be reciprocated in the radial direction of the disk. An objective lens holder is supported by the head base in such a manner that the objective lens holder is swingable in the radial direction of the disk through an elastic supporting member such as an elastic hinge and in a focusing direction perpendicular to the surface of the disk through an elastic supporting member such as a leaf spring. A head feeding coil secured to the head base and a focusing coil and a tracking coil mounted on the objective lens holder are coupled to the magnetic circuit in such a manner that they are movable in the radial direction of the disk.
