  • Publication number: 20020121250
Abstract: A process of molding a cylinder block of a multi-cylinder engine comprises making a jacket core (30) so as to form cylinder jackets (8) of the multi-cylinder engine (E), attaching the jacket core (30) to a cylinder block forming mold (28), and pouring molten metal into the cylinder block forming mold (28). The process makes a water passage forming core (31) of sphered particle sand having a lower expansion coefficient than the common silica sand. The core (31) is intended for forming at a head side portion of an inter-bore wall (4) of the multi-cylinder engine (E), a cooling water passage (10) which communicates the cylinder jackets (8) with a head jacket (22). And prior to pouring the molten metal, the process fixedly attaches the water passage forming core (31) to a position corresponding to the inter-bore wall (4) of the jacket core (30).

  • Patent number: 6032641
Abstract: A fuel injection device for a diesel engine adapted to perform a preliminary injection (1) and a main injection (2) to a combustion chamber (3), wherein the preliminary injection (1) is adjusted to begin within a valve overlap term (40).Within the valve overlap term (40), no intake air is introduced into the combustion chamber (3) or a little if any and the combustion chamber (3) contains a gas of high temperature. If the preliminary injection (1) is conducted into this gas of high temperature within the combustion chamber (3), a preliminary injection fuel vaporizes soon to thereby shorten the ignition lag of a main injection fuel with the result of improving the combustion.

  • Patent number: 4848658
Abstract: In a pressure accumulation type of fuel injection device for an internal combustion engine, including a fuel injector which is adapted to temporarily store each incoming charge of highly pressurized fuel and inject the fuel under high pressure, a nozzle valve is provided within the pressure accumulation chamber defined in the fuel injector body. The upper end portion of the nozzle valve stem extends hermetically and slidably through a bore formed in the fuel injector body. Furthermore, a cylindrical check valve is provided so as to encircle the valve stem and is adapted to be biased towards an underside of an annular projection formed on the valve stem by a check valve spring mounted on the valve stem to close the check valve. The spring force for closing the check valve which controls the opening and the closing of the inlet portion of the pressure accumulation chamber is reduced and the pressure of the fuel stored in the pressure accumulation chamber can be increased greatly.

  • Patent number: 4807811
Abstract: The present invention relates to an accumulator fuel injector for a diesel engine, the device including first and second accumulators which are connected through a check valve and a relief valve. Fuel pressurized and delivered by a fuel injection pump is charged into the first accumulator so as to increase its pressure abruptly. When the fuel pressure in the first accumulator reaches a selected relief pressure, the fuel is charged into the second accumulator through the check valve and is accumulated therein. When fuel injection is started by opening of an injection valve, the fuel accumulated in the first accumulator is injected through the injection valve and at the same time the fuel accumulated in the second accumulator flows out to the first accumulator through the relief valve so as to also be injected through the injection valve.

  • Patent number: 4290395
Abstract: A balancing device comprising three or more rotating balancers mounted within a housing is detachably mounted on a reciprocating, internal combustion engine. The balancing device generates a balancing force F.sub.b chosen to cancel the vibrating force F.sub.r produced by the engine. The vibrating force F.sub.r lies on a vibration line S, and the balancing force F.sub.b is spaced a distance l therefrom, whereby a rotating moment M is generated. The balancing device also generates a balancing moment -M, chosen to cancel the rotating moment M.
