  • Patent number: 7209247
Abstract: Disclosed is an image processing apparatus in which image data is generated by a formatter based upon PDL data from a host computer and the image data is output from a printer via an image input/output controller. The apparatus has a scanner unit and a facsimile unit and is capable of transmitting data and of scanning an image while printing is in progress. The formatter senses a service call arising from an error or the like and sends the image input/output controller a request to display this fact. As a result of detection of the error, the image input/output controller halts communication with the formatter and sends a RESET signal to the formatter, whereby the formatter is initialized. Even if an abnormally occurs in a printing function, therefore, recovery of the printing function can be achieved without affecting the scanner and facsimile functions.

  • Patent number: 7095515
Abstract: When the printing operation of a printer is restricted during the execution of a print job including print data of a plurality of pages, an image processing apparatus of the invention executes a retreat mode for storing image data obtained by developing the print data of the subsequent pages in which the printing operation has been restricted into an image memory. When a status to be restricted is cancelled, the printing operation is restarted by using the image data retreated into the image memory.

  • Publication number: 20020018230
Abstract: When the printing operation of a printer 2 is restricted during the execution of a print job including print data of a plurality of pages, an image processing apparatus of the invention executes a retreat mode for storing image data obtained by developing the print data of the subsequent pages in which the printing operation has been restricted into an image memory. When a status to be restricted is cancelled, the printing operation is restarted by using the image data retreated into the image memory.

  • Patent number: 6072941
Abstract: An image processor, in which the attributes of an image are classified, and optimal processing for each attribute is performed, thereby improving the overall quality of the image. When this processing method is applied to a copying machine, a high processing efficiency is realized, and an area designating operation is omitted. The image processor includes a block selection processing unit for classifying images stored in a storage unit according to various attributes and provides area information for each attribute.

  • Patent number: 5867638
Abstract: An information processing system comprises a core, and a sub-unit (for example, a facsimile unit, a file unit, and a computer interface unit, a formater or an image memory) connected to the core, and the core and the sub-unit are connected by two types of buses, synchronous type and asynchronous type. Where the data transfer between the core and the sub-unit is to be effected through the asynchronous bus, the core may simultaneously transfer data to another sub-unit by using the synchronous bus. Where the data transfer between the core and the sub-unit is to be effected by the synchronous bus, the data may be parallelly transferred to a plurality of sub-units.

  • Patent number: 5745661
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a unit for inputting image information from an external apparatus, a unit for forming an image on a recording medium, a unit for reading an original, a unit for detecting a jam of the recording medium, a unit for being manually operated by an operator, and a unit for controlling a recovery operation from a jammed state. The apparatus includes a first mode for forming an image corresponding to the input image information, and a second mode for forming a composite image by synthesizing the image corresponding to the input image information with an image of the original read by the reading unit. The control unit starts the recovery operation from the jammed state in response to release of the jam in the first mode, and starts the recovery operation from the jammed state in response to a manual operation of the operation unit by the operator after release of the jam in the second mode.

  • Patent number: 5732161
Abstract: An image synthesizing apparatus includes a reading unit which reads an image of an original, and an input unit which inputs print data from an external apparatus. A first setting unit sets a synthesis mode for synthesizing image data output from the reading unit and the print data input from the input unit for recordation, and a second setting unit sets a number of pages of different print data to be synthesized in the synthesis mode. A control unit is adapted, when the synthesis mode is set by the first setting unit, to maintain the synthesis mode until the different print data of the number of pages set by the second setting unit is input by the input unit, and to cancel the synthesis mode after the different print data of the set number of pages has been input.
