  • Patent number: 5906824
Abstract: An antithrombogenic material whose stickiness to cells is maintained but whose stickiness to blood platelet is inhibited, is disclosed, which comprises a substrate and a biopolymer material coated on said substrate, the antithrombogenic material being obtained by irradiating the biopolymer material with ion beam to maintain its stickiness to a cell but reduce its stickiness to a blood platelet. In accordance with the present invention, there is also provided a method for producing the antithrombogenic material.

  • Patent number: 5452337
Abstract: A rotational drive sensor 31 which allows a radiation source 10 and a twomensional sensor 20 which are caused to be in one body to turn round a subject 50. An X-ray vessel 13 irradiates X-rays to the subject 50 in a pulsated manner. An X-ray/light conversion element 21 converts an X-ray transmitted image to an optical image. A CCD camera 23 picks up this optical image. An information processing unit 40 reconstructs a three-dimensional pictorial image on the basis of two dimensional pictorial images in plural directions obtained, and a display monitor 46 displays this three-dimensional pictorial image. A controller 39 controls the distance between the X-ray vessel 13 and the X-ray/light conversion element 21 and the focal size of the X-ray vessel 13 on the basis of the size of the subject 50.

  • Patent number: 5308704
Abstract: A cell adhesive material with excellent cell adhesion and cell proliferating property and a method for producing the same are provided. The adhesion and proliferation of cells can be improved remarkably by the surface modification of a cell adhesive material comprising a polymer material containing carbon as a constituting element, such as polystyrene or segmented polyurethane, wherein at least a part of the surface is modified by ion bombardment through ion implantation. The method for producing such cell adhesive material comprises implanting ions into at least a part of the surface of the polymer material. The cell adhesive material and the method for producing the same are promising for application to cell culture petri dishes and hybrid-type medicinal materials.

  • Patent number: 5178468
Abstract: Provided are a temperature measuring probe separable from a main body which includes a signal processor, and an electronic clinical thermometer equipped with this probe. The temperature measuring probe includes a temperature measuring circuit supported by a flat, flexible, strip-shaped base member, in which the temperature measuring circuit is sealed by a coating member, such as a film, and/or a filler, one end thereof being treated to form a connector. This structure allows the overall probe to be formed into a film-, sheet- or plate-like configuration. Preferably, a core member is provided between the base member and coating member, with the flexibility and rigidity of the overall probe being decided by selecting the thickness, material and cross-sectional configuration of the core.

  • Patent number: 5152783
Abstract: An antithrombogenic material having its surface modified by ion implantation is disclosed. This antithrombogenic material may, for example, be a silicone material which has its surface modified by introducing functional groups on its surface by ion implantation. The material exhibits improved compatibility to blood due to introduction of the functional groups by ion implantation and the doping effect of the implanted elements.

The core includes at least one cavity. The thickness of the core member at a portion of the at least one cavity being approximately the same as that of the temperature sensing body. The core member has a smoothly diminishing thickness from the at least one cavity toward the rearward end of the probe.
