  • Publication number: 20020124472
Abstract: A sealing structure includes a door opening portion formed around a door opening in a vehicle body, and a weather strip secured to the door opening portion. The weather strip has a base portion and a tubular seal portion which is pushed by a vehicle door when the door opening is closed. End edges of an outer body panel and an inner body panel which compose the door opening portion are placed on and joined to each other, thereby forming a flat joint. The outer body panel has a concave surface from the outside of the flat joint to a side surface of the vehicle body. The concave surface is composed of a first surface which bends from the outside of the flat joint into an L-shaped configuration and extends outwardly of the door opening portion, and a second surface which bends from the first surface into an L-shaped configuration and extends towards the side surface of the vehicle body.

  • Publication number: 20020108313
Abstract: A door frame structure of a vehicle, of which a door frame is covered with a frame molding. The door frame has a flat peripheral wall extending around a window opening of a vehicle door and a protrusion protruding from an inside end of the flat peripheral wall. The frame molding is composed of a synthetic resin or TPO and is attached to an outside end of the peripheral wall of the door frame. A pair of shelf-like projections are integrally formed on an inside surface of the frame molding from about a widthwise center thereof so as to be spaced from each other. By press-inserting the flat peripheral wall of the door frame between the shelf-like projections of the frame molding, the frame molding is secured to the door frame.

  • Patent number: 6389754
Abstract: A glass run of an automobile comprises a channel portion including a bottom portion and inner and outer side walls. The glass run further comprises inner and outer seal lips projecting into the channel portion from the inner and outer side walls respectively. The seal lips have back sides facing inside of the channel portion. At least the inner seal lip is thickened in its wall thickness at its middle portion in a manner that the back side of the seal lip projects more inwardly into the channel portion at the middle portion than at a root portion of the seal lip, thereby forming a convex at the middle portion on the back side of the seal lip while relatively forming a concave at the root portion on the back side of the seal lip. The glass run further comprises a sponge elasticity-reinforcing member provided between the root portion on the back side of the inner seal lip and the inner side wall.

  • Publication number: 20020046499
Abstract: A glass run for use in a motor vehicle, which is capable of preventing the increase in a sliding resistance against a door glass which is raised and lowered in the glass run. At least one inclined surface is formed in an inside surface of a side wall of the glass run from the position corresponding to a projecting end of a seal lip which extends obliquely inwardly from an opening-side end of the side wall, to a bottom wall. The inclined surface is defined such that the distance between the inclined surface and the door glass gradually increases toward a bottom-side end of the side wall. The inclined surface enables the projecting end of the seal lip which is pushed by the door glass toward the side wall to move smoothly therealong, thereby preventing the increase in the pressing force of the door glass against the seal lip.

  • Publication number: 20020036414
Abstract: A sealing structure for forming a seal between a weather strip attached to a door opening portion of a vehicle body, and a periphery of a vehicle door. The weather strip includes a base portion having a generally U-shaped cross-section for attachment to the door opening portion, and a tubular seal portion which expands from an outer side wall of the base portion. A projection is formed in the weather strip so as to project from the outer side wall of the base portion into an interior of the tubular seal portion so as to be spaced from an inner surface of a projecting top of a sealing wall of the tubular seal portion. When the vehicle door is closed, an inside surface of a periphery of a door panel contacts and presses the projecting top of the sealing wall, which faces the projecting end of the projection, while an inside surface of a door frame contacts and presses a side part of the sealing wall apart from the projecting top of the sealing wall.

  • Publication number: 20020027378
Abstract: A weather strip has a base portion and seal lips. The base portion has a base bottom portion attached to a door frame, side wall portions extending from substantially opposite sides of the base bottom portion, and a bridge portion connecting the opposite side wall portions. A hollow portion is formed by these portions. An exterior-side seal lip is provided to extend from a substantially border portion between the exterior-side side wall portion and the bridge portion. An interior-side seal lip is provided to extend from the bridge portion more interior than the exterior-side seal lip. In the bridge portion, the opposite sides of the root portion of the interior-side seal lip are formed into thin portions respectively. Thus, when the door is closed, even if the gap is narrowed, the interior-side seal lip is bent and the bridge portion is deformed easily in the thin portions so that the repulsion stress is restrained from increasing conspicuously.
