    Abstract: An electromagnetic clutch includes a first rotatable member for connection to an external driving source and a second rotatable member for connection to a driven member. An annular magnetic member is connected to the second rotatable member through a plurality of leaf springs. A third rotatable member is connected to the second rotatable member to limit the axial movement of the annular magnetic member. A plurality of connecting and absorbing devices are fixedly disposed between the annular magnetic member and the third rotatable member. These devices absorb vibration and impact forces when the annular magnetic member is attracted to the first rotatable member. A device is provided for preventing the destruction of the connecting and absorbing device due to the impact force and vibration created upon engagement of the electromagnetic clutch.

    Abstract: A swash plate type refrigerant compressor comprises a compressor housing enclosing therein a crank chamber, a suction chamber and a discharge chamber. A swash plate is tiltably connected to the drive shaft and has two sliding surfaces sides thereof. The swash plate includes a sliding surface which engages a plurality of pairs of shoes. The shoes couple the swash plate to the pistons so that the pistons may be driven in a reciprocating motion within the cylinder bores upon rotation of the swash plate. At least one groove is formed in the sliding contact surfaces between the swash plate and the shoes. The groove captures and retains lubricating oil in the refrigerant in response to the rotation of the swash plate.

    Abstract: A scroll-type fluid displacement apparatus is disclosed having a pair of scroll members each comprising an end plate and a spiral wrap extending from one side of the end plate. The spiral wraps interfit at an angular and radial offset to make a plurality of line contacts to define at least one pair of sealed-off fluid pockets. At least one of the scroll members has a discharge port or fluid hole near the center of the spiral element and is provided with an anti-wear plate on its end surface facing the other scroll member. The anti-wear plate is an involute plate that covers substantially the area of the end surface of the end plate on which the spiral wrap of the other scroll member makes contact during the orbital motion of the orbiting scroll member. The radially inner end of the anti-wear plate is spaced from the discharge port to avoid blocking the discharge flow or covering the discharge port. Therefore, the undesirable vibration of the anti-wear plate by fluid flowing through the port is avoided.

    Abstract: A method for producing a magnetic rotatable member as a part of a pulley in an electromagnetic clutch is proposed. In order to reduce the producing time and the wasted material amount, the rotatable member is formed by press-drawing a magnetic circular plate to form an annular body consisted of an outer annular cylindrical portion, an inner annular cylindrical portion and an axial end annular plate portion connecting therebetween. Thereafter, the blank is subjected to ironing to form a radial annular rim on the outer surface of the outer annular cylindrical portion at the axial end, and also subjected to cutting-away and bending processes to cut away the outer edge of the inner annular cylindrical portion and to bend the resultant annular thin wall portion radially inwardly so that a radial flange is formed.

    Abstract: An electromagnetic clutch including a pulley which is rotated by an external power source through a belt or belts for selectively transmitting the rotation of the pulley to a drive shaft by electromagnetically attracting a magnetic armature supported on the drive shaft. The pulley has a magnetic annular body rotatably supported and a belt-receiving groove member of aluminum alloy formed onto the outer surface of the magnetic annular body by die casting and integrated with the magnetic annular body. The construction improves the weight, cost and simplifies the method of production of the pulley without degrading the performance and balance of the pulley.
