  • Patent number: 5433508
Abstract: A powered headrest for an automotive seat, which includes, within a seat back of the seat, a slider member engageable with a stay of the headrest, the slider member being moved vertically by operation of a motor, a rotatable guide rod, and a lock member to be engaged biasingly with a recessed portion of the stay. An operation knob and associated connecting elements are provided in the headrest, with such an arrangement that to simply operate or press the knob will cause rotational motion of the guide rod, and the lock member will only be interlocked with that rotational motion of guide rod, so as to place the headrest stay in an unlocked state with respect to the slider.

  • Patent number: 4848795
Abstract: A seat belt device has a belt retractor mounted on a vehicular seat from. The belt retractor employs an ELR mechanism for locking a seat belt upon emergency condition. The seat belt device employs and electrically operable actuator in cooperation with the ELR mechanism. The actuator is operable in response to a switch which is turned ON by manual seat slide lock release operation. This allows seat position adjusting operation without causing locking of the seat belt.

  • Patent number: 4821991
Abstract: A seat slide device is disclosed which comprises a stationary rail having an angularly C-shaped cross section and a movable rail having a reversed T-shaped cross section. The movable rail is coupled with the stationary rail in such a manner that the enlarged head portion of the movable rail is spacedly received in the stationary rail thereby to define below the enlarged head portion a single elongate space in which rollers are rotatably received and above the enlarged head portion two parallel elongate spaces in which ball bearings are rotatably received. Inward sides of the stationary rail and the outward ends of the enlarged head portion of the movable rail are bent at generally right angles in order to hold the ball bearings in the two parallel elongate spaces.

  • Patent number: 4619725
Abstract: Herein disclosed is a method of producing a headrest comprising preparing a lower mold formed with a rectangular gutter-like cavity leaving a central land, extending a thermoplastic film over the shaped work face of the lower mold, and softening the plastic film by heating it. The method further includes placing an upper mold with a counter-shaped face onto the work face of the lower mold to provide a molded article of the thermoplastic film, applying the inner surface of the molded article with adhesive, putting a pad of shock-absorbing material into the molded article, and pressing the pad against the molded article to assure bonding therebetween. The method further comprises cutting the molded article at the portions other than the portions which substantially cover the pad, thereby to provide freely movable fragments of the film, and folding back the fragments of the film to cover the remaining portions of the pad, thereby to provide one pad unit.

  • Patent number: 4516788
Abstract: Device for adjusting seating position of an automotive vehicle seat by using the change of the pressure of a working gas is so designed that the working gas is propelled using a pressure pump of a pneumatic vehicle-height-adjusting device without an additional pump used exclusively for pressurizing the working gas. Therefore, the working portion of the seating position adjusting device is connected to a working gas passage of the vehicle height adjusting device via a working gas supply passage. The working gas supply passage is provided with a control valve so that introduction of the working gas is controlled. The working portion is further provided with an exhaust valve so as to control the exhaust operation of the working gas from the working portion.

  • Patent number: 4409707
Abstract: A retainer (21) for securing an article, e.g. a seat cushion, to a vehicle body consists of plastics-made hollow main body (22) which is inserted into an opening (8) in a vehicle body panel (6). The main body is provided on its outer surface with projections (26, 27a, 27b) which engage with upper and lower surfaces of the panel to prevent withdrawal of the retainer. The main body has an inner space with an open top end (22a) which permits insertion of a frame portion (2, 30) of the seat cushion into the inner space. The main body is further provided on its inner surface with projections (24a, 24b) which prevent withdrawal of the frame portion from the inner space. The inner space is open at the top end only, at least when the frame portion is retained in the inner space, so as to prevent entry of water or dust into the cabin even when the space below the body panel is not closed.
