The apparatus stores a number of batteries to be used for each type of the machine, a battery duration for each type of the machine, and a time required for charging the battery, receives a working schedule including a procedure of the steps, a time required for each of the steps, and types and numbers of machines used in each of the steps, and generates, based on the input information, use plan information of batteries including the number of the batteries required for the series of tasks and charging timings of the batteries.

Thus, quick access of the data head to a desired track can be achieved.
