  • Patent number: 9900653
Abstract: An external device may recognize, in the case of including a communication unit that executes communication via a communication path made up of a pair of differential transmission paths included in a transmission path, information relating to the communication unit thereof. A disk recorder transmits function information indicating that a communication unit (high-speed data line I/F 213) configured to execute communication with an external device via a communication path made up of a reserve line and an HPD line of an HDMI cable to a television receiver via a CEC line that is a control data line of the HDMI cable. The television receiver receives function information, whereby whether or not the disk recorder is an eHDMI-compatible device can be determined, and in the case of an eHDMI-compatible device, a compatible transmission format (application) can be recognized.

  • Patent number: 8898727
Abstract: [Object] To enable an external device to recognize, in the case of including a communication unit configured to execute communication via a communication path made up of a pair of differential transmission paths included in a transmission path, information relating to the communication unit thereof. [Solving means] A disk recorder 210 transmits function information indicating that a communication unit (high-speed data line I/F 213) configured to execute communication with an external device via a communication path made up of a reserve line and an HPD line of an HDMI cable 350 to a television receiver 250 via a CEC line that is a control data line of the HDMI cable 350. The television receiver 250 receives function information, whereby whether or not the disk recorder 210 is an eHDMI-compatible device can be determined, and in the case of an eHDMI-compatible device, a compatible transmission format (application) can be recognized.

  • Patent number: 8456188
Abstract: To discriminate whether a cable in conformity with a conventional standard or a cable in conformity with a new standard is connected. An HPD signal line (902) has, on an expanded HDMI sink apparatus (402) side circuit, a pull-up resistor (911) between the HPD signal line (902) and a voltage supply and a pull-down resistor (913) between the HPD signal line (902) and the ground, and a reserved line (903) has, on the expanded HDMI sink apparatus (402) side circuit, a pull-down resistor (914) between the reserved line (903) and a ground, and within a new HDMI cable (901), a pull-up resistor (912) between the reserved line (903) and a voltage supply of an expanded HDMI source apparatus (401). The expanded HDMI sink apparatus compares a voltage at a test point (19) on the reserved line (903) on the expanded HDMI sink apparatus (402) side with a reference voltage by using a voltage comparator (916).

  • Patent number: 8059550
Abstract: To provide an electronic apparatus capable of easily detecting a terminal that forms a loop connection state with a simplified configuration. A control unit counts the number of broadcast packet supplied from a switching hub to a communication unit within a predetermined time period and determines whether the number of packets exceeds a threshold value (ST2, ST3). If the number of packets exceeds the threshold value, the control unit determines that an abnormal connection state occurs, that is, a loop is detected and starts a process in which the control unit identifies a network terminal that forms the loop connection state (ST3, ST5). The control unit counts the number of broadcast packets that reach each of the network terminals, that is, broadcast packets input to each port of the switching hub.
