  • Patent number: 6188878
Abstract: An FM receiver for receiving a text-based multiplex broadcast includes a decoder for taking out text-based program data from a multiplexed signal received at a receiver circuit and a controller having first and second memory areas. Data taken out by the decoder is alternately written to the first and second memory areas each time a power supply is turned on. When the power supply is turned on, the controller reads out data from one of the first and second memory areas that is carrying out writing of the data, and displays a text-based program at a display element with this read-out data. The memory area carrying out the reading of data is then alternately changed over between the first and second memory areas upon the operation of a prescribed key.

  • Patent number: 4919640
Abstract: An auto tuning apparatus sequentially varies the value of N, a positive integer, in the frequency-dividing ratio 1/N of a variable frequency-dividing circuit incorporated in a local oscillating circuit having a phase locked loop configuration. The apparatus detects a plurality of candidate tuning points of an intermediate frequency carrier and includes a circuit for performing a scan of those tuning points by, among other steps, changing a tuning point detecting threshold relative to the level of the received signal. A circuit is provided for determining the correct or optimum tuning point on the basis of the scan.

  • Patent number: 4063177
Abstract: In a radio receiver having first and second mixers and in which, during short wave reception, an intermediate frequency signal is produced through the first and second mixers and, during medium wave reception, an intermediate frequency signal is produced through only the second mixer; the second mixer is formed of a pair of transistors having collectors connected to each other and emitters also connected to each other. By changing over switches, the base of one of the transistors is supplied with a received signal during short wave reception, and the base of the other transistor is supplied with a received signal during medium wave reception. As a result, suitable intermediate frequency signals can be selectively obtained at the collectors of the transistors.
