The electronic display device has an image-displaying portion and another portion adjacent the image-displaying portion along at least one side. The cover, which may include a glass or plastic sheet, is positioned adjacent the electronic display device and includes a first portion positioned adjacent the image-displaying portion of the display device and a second portion positioned adjacent the other portion of the display device. The optical properties of the first portion are also selected to transmit images displayed on the image-displaying portion and the optical properties of the second portion are selected to mask the other portion of the display device.

Abstract: A chair includes a tablet and a seat. The tablet and seat are configured such that a user may sit forwardly on the seat so that his or her arms may rest on the tablet and a device or paper may be positioned on the tablet such that the person may look at the device or paper. The tablet and seat are also arranged such that the person may sit rearwardly on the seat so that the person's back rests on a bottom portion of the tablet.

Abstract: A compact removable voice handset for an integrated palmtop computer system/mobile phone is presented. The present invention is used in conjunction with a personal digital assistant (PDA). The PDA comprises electronics for wireless communications and a contact information database and a means for coupling the handset to the PDA. The present invention is compact such that when coupled to the PDA, there is minimal increase to the overall size and weight of the PDA. The present invention comprises a microphone and a speaker, and is communicatively coupled, via either a wireless connection or a wired connection, to the PDA. The handset comprises control elements such that the handset can be operated independent of the PDA. In one embodiment, the handset comprises a display and control elements configured for accessing the contact information database of the PDA, adjusting the volume of the handset, and for initiating or ending wireless communications.

Abstract: A furniture system, method of assembling furniture for a work space, and a fastening apparatus for interconnecting furniture components include one or more fastening devices. Each fastening device includes a body that has a channel sized and configured to receive a first rail. Each fastening device also includes at least one of a connector assembly and an opening formed in the body for attaching the fastening device to at least one other furniture component. The connector assembly and the opening in the body are sized and configured so that the other furniture components are positioned such that at least one of their height and length extend in a direction substantially perpendicular to the length of the first rail, such as a direction that is mostly perpendicular to the length of the first rail. Other embodiments of the fastening device may include variations in configurations to the connector assembly or body.
